  1. wouldn't the natural resting place for the belayer's hand be below the device, ie, not locked off when belaying with a device off the anchor? All cool cats usin the Reverso now, auto-lock-off

  5. But, but, but . . . If you ever climb as a party of three, having members on daisies or similar is essential to minimize cluster f'ups. I use both systems, sometimes AT THE SAME TIME If I'm feeling lazy I usually chain it

  7. Okay, a SLIGHT problem in that reporting. The banner states: "One-third of Germans under age 30 believe the U.S. government may have sponsored the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York and Washington," While, in fact, the real wording of the questions was: "Asked whether they believed the U.S. government could have ordered the September 11 attacks . . ." i.e. Would the US have been capable not is it possible that . Figure out your fuckin MODALS people

  9. Yes not always. Anchor sucks and the dynamics of a belay off the body will lessen force on anchor. Basically all falls I have ever caught have been arrested by my own weight. Just don't climb with tubbies, that's all! ***ACMG now advises all guides to clove hitch into the anchor as a daisy or chain is not meant to take a dynamic force. This is funny cause the person who told me this passed on advice from the ACMG two years ago stating that clove hitches were unreliable as primary anchors

  19. I spent all of last week there, it wasn't that bad. You can always find somewhere in the shade. Just do the old siesta trick, climb in the early morn and evenings with a swim break at Coney Island at noon. You get in pretty good shape too, hiking the trail twice a day
