If the season ever arrives. The Ski patrollers can ski it but the public can't thats wrong. Once you start down you are commited. what are you going to do clip the ticket. What are the ski patrolers going to do follow them that means they also would have to ski down to 410. From my experance Crystal dose not have to right to patrol over there eirther. have notice some avalanche patrol work in MRNP and that is not legal either. Most of the patrolers are not aware of ski to 410. [ 11-25-2002, 05:41 PM: Message edited by: Skisports ]

I would go climb it.If I had time
-
Your best bet is head up Crystal Mt and ski down Kempers.... That will put you close to White river campground. From there you have a long way into sunrise. it beats me how long it will take to get in to that area.a day or 2 depends on snow too Depends on how fast and light you go. You would probably be better of doing a winter accent of the emmons. Beets me

after skiing boiler plate ice this weeekend and losing a ski it is not my type of ski year. I think I am going to have to head more contiental.
-
yeah yeah yeah... whatever there is snow somewhere and if all else fails go climb some ice
-
I would check around and look for a beginner to novice/intermidate ski. This will give you tons of felxablity and make it really really easy to turn so those that can ski can use them with mountainerring boots. The only problem is in icy conditions..... yeah right they will not ski. and Beginner skis are all over the place. Cheep. 100bucks...

I use a whippet for skiing all the time. In steep chutes I perfer two whippets. I don't like skiing with a ice axe because it throws of your rythme when you are skiing hard terrain. Some times I just use a whippet and a ski pole. When I am not in questionalbe terrain They are pricey but if you look around on the internet you can find the 25% or more somewhere. I highly recomend one. But before use start useing them make sure you know where you hands are when you ski. I use to teach skiing and I see hands all over the place and that can get dangerous.

Kicking Horse Canyon will be closed this year !!!!!!!

This bites Read on:: Golden, B.C., ice routes temporarily closed Currently in the Kicking Horse Canyon east of Golden there is a major construction project underway to replace the 5-Mile bridge on the Trans-Canada Highway. This construction will prohibit all access to many popular climbs in the area for this winter, including Pretty Nuts, Riverview and the Essendale Right and Left. It may totally change the access in this area forever, as it will become a four-lane bridge/highway with no pull-out. However, the Columbia Valley Climbing Association will be holding a meeting shortly with the Ministry of Highways to seek an access compromise. It's pretty much a given that Pretty Nuts will not be accessible this year as there is major machinery at the bottom. Please, nobody try to access these climbs until there is a resolution, or it could prevent any access for the remainder of the season. If anybody has any questions, contact Ryan Kuhn at (250) 344-0048 or Troy Hudson at (250) 344-2966. , nobody try to access these climbs until there -
very cool
