  1. You're welcome, Scott. As a few other people have said here, Moonstone has always provided a good buy for a decent piece of gear, and at this little sale, you can expect to get a screaming buy on a decent piece of gear.
  2. I have to agree with AK here. Nearly all of the non-smoking bars in town suck, except for the Latona, which is okay, but it is too small for a Pub Club in the wintertime.
  3. Like Alp K., I generally have to do actual work at my job. For those of us lacking desk jobs, it can be challenging to keep up. Of course, I am behind because I was skiing yesterday while you yoiks where spraying at your desks. Hey Matt, I hope you got some useful beta before this whole thread came crashing down.
  4. It dumped all day *up there* yesterday, and it's cold enuf in the city that it is doing it again today.....*out there*.
  5. There is a store out at the North Bend outlet mall that is selling tons and tons of mostly Moonstone clothes at rock-bottom prices. Of particular interest is a lot of stretch fleece stuff, and Thermolite Jackets and vests. The Thermolite stuff is Moonstone's version of Patagucci's Puffball jacket and vest. They have these in about a jillion colors, mens' and womens', the jackets are $30 and the vests $25. Lots of other assorted fleece, shell gear, skis stuff, but the best of the lot IMO is the fleece and the puffies. Store closes 1/31, so don't delay. PS. Store doesn't really have a name, it just has a black and white sign that says "Moonstone" and some other stuff, and it is sort of by the Eddie Bauer outlet.
  6. Stove is gone to a good home.
  7. Newstips, don't be discouraged. We are a bunch of freaks here! Please tell your people on the air "ten people and one guide" is not a very good way to describe who was caught in the avalanche. Guides are people too, and some of them are very nice people.
  8. Boots: Merrell GT. Leather with a nice stiff shank. Wms 9/Mns 7.5. Excellent condition, about 50 miles on them. Too stiff for me. $30. Stove: MSR Whisperlite, excellent condition. Comes with extra fuel pump, standard windscreen, fuel bottle, and if I don't have to mail it, a quart of white gas that may or may not still be good. $20 for this stuff. I can bring to a Pub Club, so if you need to try on the boots, this is the way to go. If I have to mail the stuff, you get to pay the shipping. PM me if interested. PS. Oh yeah, I have one of those Crazy Creek chair thingies too, also exc. cond. $10.
  9. I didn't see the thread before it got moderated, but like to see that there is more moderating going on when things get out of hand. Thread drift is not as bothersome as personal attacks though, that stuff sucks!! This is my 1000th post. Someone buy me a cake, or tie up my fingers so I stop spewing nonsense.
  10. Col, there are lots of Ballardites you can carpool with!
  11. Yah, WAY more money than I want to spend. Put the skis inside the car before I spend $90 on the rack bits.
  12. I am looking for the ski components to bolt on to my already-existing Yakima rack, in case my initial post was unclear.
  13. With or without locks, I can get those seperately if necessary, as long as it's in working condition not too picky about the model as long as it fits my rack. Don't want to spend a lot, hate messing with Ebay. Car is returning from Sequim next week, would like to surprise it with a little gift. PM or post if you've got the spare parts sitting around and don't need a lot of $ for them. Thx.
  14. Many among us will be in Salt Lake City for Outdoor Retailers that weekend, but let me, at least, wish you bon voyage, happy trails, be careful, send your mom a postcard, and all that junk now, before you take off. AW
  15. "we just think they kinda suck and perhaps they will someday achieve enlightment and understand our position." Translation: you must join our club! until then, you suck! That is like, SO, you know, junior high!
  16. Heard this one backstage tonight: "Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog"
  17. Thursday...foggy and cold at the Pass, and the kind of light snow coverage you'd expect this year. Today at Crystal.....hot and sunny, with light coverage, a perfect late spring day, could have skied in a t-......I'm sorry, what is that you are saying? It's the middle of JANUARY! Holy $#!T! It was super-duper fun playing in the spring snow today if you could look past the fact that is badbadbad to be getting HOT days in the middle of winter on top of low snow pack. I had forgotten how crowded ski areas are on the weekends, and I'd completely forgotten how awful most people are at skiing and snowboarding. Really, really phenomenally bad. Much worse than I am at climbing, if that is possible. FYI the wax jobs were just fine. Even the snowboard.
  18. Dad Watsons? That place would be SO PERFECT!
  19. Here's that thread if for some reason that URL didn't work, serach for a thread called 'right down funky' just over a month old in The Gear Critic. Don't waste your time with the cleaners, the laundromat works just fine, and Woolite is preferred to down washing products.
  20. That was totally entertaining. Without your helpful link I would have missed it altogether. Thanks for brightening my day, Ray!
  21. If you overapply, sometimes you need to scrape once, iron again, and then scrape again. That's what I did with the snowboard, and what I had to do a couple of times when I first started doing my skis.
  22. Of course I got the pleats straight! I prefer a very thin coating of wax on my skis, is it less critical on a snowboard? Maybe I am just finicky that way!
  23. Um, trust me, this snowboard is not my property. I think they are kind of, well, weird. I waxed my skis first and it was a snap. Worked on the snowboard a little more, not perfect, maybe less wax and a little more patience with the iron next time.
  24. Hey I am waxing a snowboard for the first time today, and finding it to be a major pain in the neck. First I got way too much wax on and had to scrape and re-iron, and now I'm having a hard time getting even coverage as the iron is not as wide as the board. Am I doing something wrong, or does it just take a little practice? Also I have a standard scraper, and am not sure I am going to get a good scrape with a tool that is narrower than the board. Hopefully I can clean any striations in the wax up in the buffing phase.
  25. Sayjay, I just 'one-starred' you, and it brought you down to two, at least for the time being. Being one of the coolest cc.commers should not limit you from being subpar. Welcome, comrade!
