Uh, who's Aidain (from Tacoma)....and who on earth is Veronica? And whoever wrote that thing, man, sharpen up your wit! That's PATHETIC!

At the risk of making a painfully obvious statement, not all bars that allow smoking are especially smoky. Can't we just toss around some places we have been and then perhaps ix-nay the really smoky ones? Or are you all just so bored that you are arguing about this for the sake of it? Here's a bunch of places that come to mind that we have had Pub Club in the last year: Swiss, E9, Nickerson, Owl/Thistle, Fiddlers, Alki, Latona, Teddys, Ballard Alehouse, Blue Star, Duchess, Big Time, Sausage Place on The Ave, Dex/Hayes, Ballroom, Al's, E'lk Zoo, Spar, place in strip mall in Totem Lake, Lockspot, ?Sloop? Which places were good, and which places were bad? Which places were "too smoky"? Which places did I forget?

Minx, 1.9 million dollars isn't going to get you much of a transit system. The voters of this region approved the RTA mass transit in (?) 1996, and then effectively stripped it of its funding in 2002.

Absolutely not directed at you in particular....directed at the electorate. BTW congratulations on getting our hobbly friend out to a Pub Club. Sorry I wasn't there, would have gone if I'd known you 2 were making an appearance. CC, my mom is UW staff. They did away with merit raises a few years back, and haven't had any kind of cost of living increase in two years. Here at the city level I haven't had a full cost of living increase in at least four years.

You vote to lower taxes, and then act all surprised when there are fees for things that used to be "free."

I had a dream that was strikingly similar to this after I went back to sleep this morning after I found out it was raining at the ski hill. It was not a nightmare, but it was pretty dang weird. Trask was not there.
-
Never mind.

That's what I'm saying here. It wasn't super light fluffy powpow yesterday, far from it, but it snowed, a lot , and then by the end of the day even, there were, like less rocks showing. It will still be a while before we get any good days, but like sex and pizza, even bad skiing is, well, pretty good. I'm going up tomorrow and some of my gear is not *quite* dry yet....but good solid base is dumpingdumpingdumping, and now all it needs to do is get ten degrees colder, and then, as they love to say, "it's all good."

Check your PMs Dave, hopefully we can hook up for a few turns and/or lunch.

Ok, Newstips, the CK eulogy thingy was mostly in poor taste. Watching the poor guy's mom cry on the news and the reporter nodding empathetically....that's the sort of thing I think we all fear will happen if we supply information to the media abut our fallen friends. Time to leave this alone.

7 and a half new at Alpental in the last 24, and I'm going to say we got four in the seven hours before that. There is some new snow some places.
-
I have to agree with AK here. Nearly all of the non-smoking bars in town suck, except for the Latona, which is okay, but it is too small for a Pub Club in the wintertime.
-
Like Alp K., I generally have to do actual work at my job. For those of us lacking desk jobs, it can be challenging to keep up. Of course, I am behind because I was skiing yesterday while you yoiks where spraying at your desks. Hey Matt, I hope you got some useful beta before this whole thread came crashing down.
-
It dumped all day *up there* yesterday, and it's cold enuf in the city that it is doing it again today.....*out there*.
-
Newstips, don't be discouraged. We are a bunch of freaks here! Please tell your people on the air "ten people and one guide" is not a very good way to describe who was caught in the avalanche. Guides are people too, and some of them are very nice people.

I didn't see the thread before it got moderated, but like to see that there is more moderating going on when things get out of hand. Thread drift is not as bothersome as personal attacks though, that stuff sucks!! This is my 1000th post. Someone buy me a cake, or tie up my fingers so I stop spewing nonsense.

Col, there are lots of Ballardites you can carpool with!
-
Yah, WAY more money than I want to spend. Put the skis inside the car before I spend $90 on the rack bits.
-
I am looking for the ski components to bolt on to my already-existing Yakima rack, in case my initial post was unclear.
-
With or without locks, I can get those seperately if necessary, as long as it's in working condition not too picky about the model as long as it fits my rack. Don't want to spend a lot, hate messing with Ebay. Car is returning from Sequim next week, would like to surprise it with a little gift. PM or post if you've got the spare parts sitting around and don't need a lot of $ for them. Thx.

Many among us will be in Salt Lake City for Outdoor Retailers that weekend, but let me, at least, wish you bon voyage, happy trails, be careful, send your mom a postcard, and all that junk now, before you take off. AW

"we just think they kinda suck and perhaps they will someday achieve enlightment and understand our position." Translation: you must join our club! until then, you suck! That is like, SO, you know, junior high!

Heard this one backstage tonight: "Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog"

Thursday...foggy and cold at the Pass, and the kind of light snow coverage you'd expect this year. Today at Crystal.....hot and sunny, with light coverage, a perfect late spring day, could have skied in a t-......I'm sorry, what is that you are saying? It's the middle of JANUARY! Holy $#!T! It was super-duper fun playing in the spring snow today if you could look past the fact that is badbadbad to be getting HOT days in the middle of winter on top of low snow pack. I had forgotten how crowded ski areas are on the weekends, and I'd completely forgotten how awful most people are at skiing and snowboarding. Really, really phenomenally bad. Much worse than I am at climbing, if that is possible. FYI the wax jobs were just fine. Even the snowboard.

Dad Watsons? That place would be SO PERFECT!
