  1. Holy shit, that is twice the size of the overnight pack I carry.
  2. Buy her a gift certificate, or buy her something she can exchange. Pack fit is pretty subjective stuff.
  3. My doctors are telling me that I am destroying what little is left of my feet by climbing in slippers. It's been suggested that I climb exclusively in board-lasted shoes with this in mind. Anyone got a pair of something in about a Size 40 that they'd like to let go of for next to nothing? I had a pair of Boreal Aces once that I liked a lot.

    chatter

It's time for a little lunchtime chatter. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/jchat.php
  5. The bag is advertised at 2#4 oz. 7 oz is about a 20% discrepancy. Common, yes acceptable, no.

    Who sent what?

Saturday I sent some pizza at Zeek's. Yesterday I sent a pack test in the hail.
  7. Generally, yes, but this is a big glaring one, and given claims of Marmot's superior products, I can't wait to see an explanation.
  8. A recently purchased Mamot Fusion was weighed and came in at 7 ounces heavier than advertised. I'd love to hear what out self-proclaimed gear expert and Marmot employee has to say about this rather glaring discrepancy.
  9. Bones heal in a couple of months. Your doctor will tell you when that part of recovery is done. Soft tissue takes longer, and pain is going to give you a lot of feedback on what you can do and when. I think with broken metatarsals you might find a slingshot rand shoe is going to put uncomfortable pressure on the affected area, but you are going to be able to determine that better yourself. Stefan is 7 months out, and I am almost 7 years out, and I'm guessing my pain is worse than his is at this point. As NC (who is an MD) points out, some of our injuries are worse than yours, though in the same accident where I broke my right calc and talus, I also broke a metatarsal in the other foot. That foot has arthritis in it now. With your injury, you can pretty much count on getting it too, though not for a couple of years at least. Just so you know, it's a lot more painful than you might think. After you are completely healed up, you might look at getting some custom orthotics. They can be a big help in maintaining what you have. My arches are falling, and the combination of the weakening of the soft tissue with the compromised bones and joints don't paint a very pretty picture. Sorry to hear about your accident. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk about this some more with someone who knows what you are going through. AW
  10. I am NOT a grass-eating hippie. I like to stay higher on the food chain than that. Anyway, if I stopped eating meat, I might lose some weight, instead of having a body shaped like a potato. That meat Greg brought to the BBQ was de-lish, so good I tried to have a second burger. I felt bad when I couldn't finish it. It was awful nice of him to bring it, so yes I complimented him on his meat.
  11. Not knowing what "pizdec" means makes me go hmmm...
  12. I can tell you without stopping to count how many times I have used that term, out loud, or in my head, in the last week: 0.00 times ahem....bull shiat! ...just for the record... p.s. good to meet you allison...check out my new sig! OK Mr. smarty pants, let's see the proof! See related thread on your autosig....let's start a trend here!

  14. ditto what Fern said.
  15. Ry, It's a different situation there. Getting "used this woman" out of "used this woman" is reading a lot into your words. One could make the same argument about your "sand in the clit" remark, but I for one find there to be a difference, and it's over the line. I know the remark was made in jest, and one level it IS funny, but well, if you think about it for a second, it's not really all that funny.
  16. Rob, When referrring to someone or something in a negative way, and then drawing a comparison between them and women or parts of wome, then yes, I do raise objections. It is offensive and demeaning, and letting it slide would suggest otherwise. It's not "having issues", its speaking out against things that are truly objectionable.
  17. hey now, if the guy is a jackass who wants to poop on a glacier, what makes you think the women want him in their club? Insulting someone by suggesting he is in some way like a woman=
  18. I should be leaving to go to the BBQ, but I have considerable experience in this area so I feel compelled to add the following poor excuses: It's too cold it's too hot it's too windy no you guys go ahead, I'll just lay here on the beach all day. Tomorrow we will go to the hospital for X-rays it's too steep it's too slabby my ankles are killing me Vantage is just too loose it's too exposed I think I'm going to throw up my gear is all wet because I accidentally threw my pack in the river my climbing partner gave me a cold my feet are swollen from the heat my ankles hurt my ankles hurt my ankles hurt
  19. Yes, pretty hot. A friend of mine works for a company that makes Ti exhaust systems for motorbikes, and we had a chat about this not so long ago. It seems to me that he also said that there are problems with casting Ti, and that it is typically, or perhaps always (sorry I forget) either machined or extruded. At this point in the design life of biners, they are made of cast items. BTW steel biners are still in use in other applications where weight is less of an issue.
  20. Ti is hard to work. It melts at a ridiculously high temperature, 3034 F versus Aluminum at 1221 F.

    Goin' Postal

ERIK IN HIS FRENCH MAID OUTFIT IS AID.
  22. It's all done. Thx. Outcome: Never, ever trust a hangtag on a pack to be honest about volume!! Also good question: you guys want to see it in ci or L?
  23. My apologies sobo. I need something more precise than your rough guesstimate system, thx.
  24. Can someone give me the formula for this? Thx!
