  1. I'd just like to know how we can believe any of your claims when Marmot can't even be trusted to properly weigh a sleeping bag.
  2. I own a pair of the Classics, and am testing the new Ascents. Having used them both this season, I vastly preferred the Ascents. The lifters really help with fatigue on steep ups, for one thing. The new Ascents are much narrower so your stride is more natural, for another.
  3. You'd have to ask them directly. Can the 'tude in my general direction. It gets old.
  4. Yep, you want the Ascents. If you can hold off, you will either be able to get the current Ascents on close out or get the new new ones next winter. I've seen them, used them, and they are even better than the new Ascents.
  5. If you feel that strongly about it, go volunteer two days for WTA doing trail maintenance. They will give you an annual pass for doing so. www.wta.org

    LATEST BANNINGS

Yes the Fence was in there too. I tried to get him to climb Das Toof with me today but he needed to stay home and spray instead.

Ah, Sayjay to da RESCUE!! And Kitten good on ya. Go play with a ball of string or something! Fence, I'd love to hear of these so-called "standards"...

That's what Alpie K says too. Maybe you can have and "I don't know shit about what I am talking about" support group!

    chatter

Now we will commence the late night chatter.
  14. I think you should let us know what the name is for your so-called 900 down fill source. 900 fill is theoretically possible, it's just not been available in amounts that would allow a bag to go into production. Also I am waiting for a response on the Fusion weight issue!
  15. Fern, be nice. Sure, I can't probably do everything you can do physically any more, but my 50L pack gets me around pretty good, and for up to a week at a time under the right circumstances. I mentioned the fact that Ehm's pack is big just cuz I get the impression that Fej isn't looking for something for expeditions. Sorry about the thread drift. I would not rule out packs made for men, keep all options open.
  16. One of the signs of spring here on cc.com.
  17. Holy shit, that is twice the size of the overnight pack I carry.
  18. Buy her a gift certificate, or buy her something she can exchange. Pack fit is pretty subjective stuff.

    chatter

It's time for a little lunchtime chatter. http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/threadz/jchat.php
  20. The bag is advertised at 2#4 oz. 7 oz is about a 20% discrepancy. Common, yes acceptable, no.

    Who sent what?

Saturday I sent some pizza at Zeek's. Yesterday I sent a pack test in the hail.
  22. Generally, yes, but this is a big glaring one, and given claims of Marmot's superior products, I can't wait to see an explanation.
  23. A recently purchased Mamot Fusion was weighed and came in at 7 ounces heavier than advertised. I'd love to hear what out self-proclaimed gear expert and Marmot employee has to say about this rather glaring discrepancy.
  24. Bones heal in a couple of months. Your doctor will tell you when that part of recovery is done. Soft tissue takes longer, and pain is going to give you a lot of feedback on what you can do and when. I think with broken metatarsals you might find a slingshot rand shoe is going to put uncomfortable pressure on the affected area, but you are going to be able to determine that better yourself. Stefan is 7 months out, and I am almost 7 years out, and I'm guessing my pain is worse than his is at this point. As NC (who is an MD) points out, some of our injuries are worse than yours, though in the same accident where I broke my right calc and talus, I also broke a metatarsal in the other foot. That foot has arthritis in it now. With your injury, you can pretty much count on getting it too, though not for a couple of years at least. Just so you know, it's a lot more painful than you might think. After you are completely healed up, you might look at getting some custom orthotics. They can be a big help in maintaining what you have. My arches are falling, and the combination of the weakening of the soft tissue with the compromised bones and joints don't paint a very pretty picture. Sorry to hear about your accident. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk about this some more with someone who knows what you are going through. AW
  25. I am NOT a grass-eating hippie. I like to stay higher on the food chain than that. Anyway, if I stopped eating meat, I might lose some weight, instead of having a body shaped like a potato. That meat Greg brought to the BBQ was de-lish, so good I tried to have a second burger. I felt bad when I couldn't finish it. It was awful nice of him to bring it, so yes I complimented him on his meat.
