  2. enchainment is when she hads kids and you were not planning to, and you spend the next 25 years married for the kids sake....
  3. Hep B vaccinations will not help you if it is Hep C (non- A non-B, the bloodborn) one you come into contact with.
  4. sorry about the socks, I just thought the resembled the ones I thought the dryer ate.
  5. that's what you keep saying. It's the ones who don't talk about their prowess that surprise you.

  9. yes. but then in that area (very small towns), everyone would know and wonder "how" you came up with 500 large ones. You'd have to move.
  10. Actutally I laughed at this one, I guess I kinda saw it as unisex, many of the terms can apply both ways To quote a friend
  11. heh. I went to HS with his younger sister... D'oh.
  12. I had that happen twice last season. first they got all my shoes, belay devices, and harnesses, from my 'secure' garage. Second time they got my rope/bag and whatever else i can't find. Both times I'd just gotten home from the gym, went up to my condo, and came back down (an hour tops) to go to work... man oh man I feel your pain. I'm still breaking in the replacement shoes. grrrr. that so sucks.
  13. Pro Mountain Sports used to rent tools and such and then apply your rental fees to the purchace of your own set. I am not sure if that is still the case, but it worked out well for me.
  14. I was taught this from the get go. If anyone doubts this, take a look at the beiner you used after you've spent a day TR'ing it. If it was a colored anodized one, I guarantee you'll see some missing color where the rope was. The first time I saw this it was a bit sobering, thinking about how many people I've seen TR'ing on the chains. Keep in mind (before you spray) not just the nylon that wears on the metal, it's all the bits of dust and such that give it a sandpaper effect (look at the bottom of the bucket next time you wash your rope
  15. strange as it sounds, I do carry a pocket mask and gloves in my pack (along with a bit of a first aid kit) I did so as a scuba instructor (oddly enough it's easier to give in water AR with a mask than without), and, well, I guess I've never really given thought to not carrying it.
  16. freshette or travel mate. makes ice climbing happier, you can use the fly in any pants. Talk about a true equalizer, you can even write yer name in the snow...
  17. ugh. I'm sorry to hear you had to be there. Speaking as someone who works with trauma patients on a regular basis, it can be very disturbing. I am very sorry to hear this news. All I can hope is that it was not one of our own. My heart goes out to his friends and family.
  18. what ever happened to Von Spank anyway?
  19. Funny that people assume I am doing this for my own female bonding issues. I have been a part of this site for a reasonable amount of time, and, well, if I wanted to hang out elsewhere, I would. Like Climbingirl33, so far the majority of my climbing partners have been male, and that has worked out fine. I posted the idea for feedback AFTER getting input from other women on the board... As I am a moderator on the site, I felt it would be nice to pass along such an idea. Lucky for the other gals they didn't post it, it would have been laughed at as a troll (as has been in the past), or they might have been drummed off the site by the negative comments. me on the other hand, yer kind of stuck with
  20. wow. that rocks. now the people at work really think climbers are nuts... Quote from one of the nurses "did he just jump out there like a spider or something???!?"

and napkins... cool napkin things. I have to admit, she made it "cool" to do domestic things again, in our world of "women must be in the workplace to be equal and hire a maid and nanny to take care of the home"
