  1. Greg,I do long division because my kids steal my goddamn calculators.
  2. Well that's just the chance we take. Miranda rights
  3. Iain, if we're riding on the shoulders of others, so be it. Must we reinvent the wheel with every generation? I think not. Technological advancement is simply an ongoing series of baby steps...as is the advancement of the human race. Although for some of you dirtbags out there, I wonder. hehehe
  4. Iain, that's the goofiest idea you've come up with to date. Of course humans have kept pace with technology. Do you think all these wacky new inventions just pop up out of space? Fuck no; humans invent and build them. Because we can't wipe our own asses as babies means nothing.
  5. Just keep in mind that unlike many countries, we have the collective ability to choose our political representatives every few years. Laws can be changed in America. Assholes can be ousted. Like Mike Adam said, if you have nothing to hide, you'll be fine.
  6. Agreed, we do at that. I'm talking about paranoia in general; no party lines.
  7. I've had all I can take from paranoid flakes...everyone is out to get them. Maybe we should send them each a copy of Conspiracy Theory - that ought to put them right over the top and straight into the looney basket!
  8. I was somewhat hesitant to say this in general open forum, but I think it needs to be said. First, I think we need not be paranoid about this Total Information Agency. The US military is spending a LOT of money on information awareness. Sounds nefarious doesn't it? But it's not. The key to information awareness is situational awareness - crucial in combat. The problem is that combat has such a high tempo with our modern, lethal, and complex systems that we need an information/situation system that can keep up with it. Situational awareness helps you know what is going on around you. You filter out that data that is not useful. Your mission is the key as to what information you think is crucial. Are there enemy on Hill 401? What weapons do they have? What actions have they taken in the last 24 to 48 hours? Is there an estimate of thier strength. Good information and situational awareness can deliver precise and exact information on the following things: where you are, where your buddies are, where the enemy is, and what it is your leaders want you to do. Not really an oversimplification, either. Well, wouldn't it have been nice to have some situational awareness on September 8th instead of September 12th in the fatermath with 20/20 hindsight? But with the degree of technology we have today, especially with IA and SA, you can quickly go into information overload. So you filter the data. You have it collect and or show you what is pertinent to you and your mission. So the bottom line is - I think we worry about nothing. We seem to think the government is all knowing, all seeing, and can invade every crevice of our privacy. This is the same government that has a hard time tying its shoes in the morning and that couldn't coordinate a square dance. trask
  9. your frothy quips suck - take yur vitamins troublemaker
  10. A couple thoughts... 1. The guy reached for the cops gun. He admitted it. Yes, the confession was under duress, and he wasn't charged. But he's blind and paralyzed as a result of his own stupidity. This is open and shut... Get stopped by the police, scuffle with them, reach for their gun and get shot. Too bad.... another Darwin award candidate. 2. There are very real reasons for attempting to interrogate someone before they're administered anasthesia. Most people that get anethnicised after trauma have no memory of the events leading up to the trauma. The linked article has no information about the investigation they were conducting. Was it petty drug dealing, or a related murder? It's kind of lopsided without this bit of information. Did someone die the following night in an almost preventable drug deal gone bad? (BTW - Have I mentioned lately my disgust with "the war on drugs"?) 3. Here's what I'd take issue with... Did they at any time interfere with the paramedics or the doctors attending to his wounds? That would be criminal. That would be shockingly cruel by community standards. As would any manipulation of the wounds, or attempt at blackmail ("I'll call the paramedics if you tell me what you know", etc...). The rest of this smells of a trumped up lawsuit to shake down the Police for money.
  11. I'm the page top king today Werd!!! No more goddamned technicalities. If someone gets off, let it be for lack of evidence or lack of a sound case; not do to a frickin' technicality or shifty attorney skills (sorry Matt, no disrespect intended towards you).
  12. #1 was a workaholic #2 was a slut #3 was an alcoholic Waaaaa ... I'm unlucky in love. I made a deal with God to strike me dead if I ever mention the words 'marriage' to a woman again.
  13. Hey, that looks like the same damned cabin I caught my 2nd. wife and some shithead with her in bed. Does a guy named Mike E.......... live there Cavey?

  16. BTW, and just on general principal: I love America and everything it stands for. I also like Bush, allot. I'm a Republican, a member of the NRA and the Congregational Church. I am a vet. I am Irish and have brown hair and blue eyes. My favorite song is God Bless America, and I've never been to a peace rally.

  22. I have a friend in the know on this. He says the new agency will be targeting arabic activity, drug-running across the borders, and general terrorist-type threats and such. There are certain words and phrases that they'll key in on...especially over the internet. Supposedly, us regular old citizens with no problematic or hostile intentions have nothing to worry about. Necro, on the other hand, should tone down his anti-American bashing. btw- Profiling is no longer a no-no. Believe it.
  23. Not true, mine had 3 black eyes and 2 teeth.
