  1. Solar flares can fry satellite circuitry but they can't or don't have enough impetus to knock a satellite out of orbit. I think geosynchronous satellites do drift somewhat over time due to tugging between sun, moon, earth and therefore need some thruster stabilization. Albeit, it's not much and nowhere near as mandatory as that of low orbit satellites. Even satellites located at Lagrange points L4 & L5 probably require some thruster use to maintain position and/or orientation. For the nerds among us who care, here's a little diagram I made from my files:
  2. He's not banned. I know the dealio but that's between me and himio.

    Weather Sucks

You guys ever hear of Gore-Tex? Krikey! Go out climbing anyway.
  4. Please tell me he does have pants on.
  5. "For that matter, the Libertarian party is too extreme to ever have a chance at getting elected, and they're not willing to dilute themselves to a more moderate stance." That is most definitely their problem. It's like the entertainment industry where the only way you get noticed is if you're extreme (purveyors of schlock entertainment, most especially). Those who aren't extreme aren't interesting. But in the end no one's (or at least the general masses) going to latch on to their extremism. And so it is that the libertarians or greens make their presence known and maintain that presence by being "out there." It makes for good news stories but it does not represent anything people would actually want to aspire to. BTW, you're slow to the nitpicking punch concerning the 'fear' quote.
  6. Interesting article. Thanks. Some good points made. Certainly a lot of what he is saying about insularity has been raging its ugly 'drowning man' head on this site.
  7. I thought maybe iain was an anagram for diss, but, alas, I got dissed.
  8. Ya'll have to ignore CBS. He's just gunning for this week's Most Stupidest Post Award after having won it last week when he said that absentee ballots should be made illegal, that all people should vote in booths.
  9. What's the big deal? The floor is so spongy and soft you don't need to rope up there anyway. You got your chain yanked, Fox.
  10. It was IE I was originally having problems with. On my Netscape browser everything appears to be fine.
  11. I thought I tried that initially but got nowhere. Now doing so appears to fix the problem. I'll continue to futz around with it for the next few days to see wazzup.
  12. For chrissakes people, quit shitting on people because they happen to be unemployed. You should hear yourselves talk. Pathetic.
  13. I was able to logout using the LOGOUT toggle in the top right corner of the gallery page. However, I could then not log in using the LOGIN toggle at top left on the message board page. I had to go back to the gallery page and use the LOGIN toggle at top right to do that.
  14. Nope. I quit my browser, opened a new one, and I'm still logged in (even after supposedly logging myself out with the LOGOUT toggle first). "You try to get out but they pull you back in!"
  15. Hello, Jon/Timmy, This message is not about log-in problems but log-out problems. I can't seem to log myself out of the site using the LOGOUT toggle by my user name at top left. Is it just me or does everyone have this problem? If I press the LOGOUT toggle it takes me to the LOGIN prompt but I'm not really logged out. That is, if I go to another page in the site I'm still logged in when I get there.
  16. For chrissakes people, quit shitting on people because they happen to have faith in God. You should hear yourselves talk. Pathetic.
  17. For those unwilling to read all the way through Jason's post, let me sum it up for you a little more succinctly. Jason said, "I usually don't rant on this webpage, but the recent election makes my blood boil. So here it is... Blah blah blah blah Whaa whaa whaa Blah blah blah Whaa whaa whaa Blah Whaa And in case you didn't hear me, blah whaa blah whaa." Or, if you prefer emoticons: " "
  18. I'm pretty sure my browser updated it this morning at the time I posted the link. You will note that your link to the message is to his home page and mine was to his message page. He probably had it on the former but not the latter this morning when you received the email. That's my stinky stale contention and I'm sticking with it.
  19. Incredible! His new message wasn't up when I made my post at 1:20PM. So in that 20 minutes between yours and my posts he put it up. Klenkism.
  20. "Let's do it!" shouts Moore on Tuesday. Hmmm, so much for rallying the troops. The Michael Moore team didn't bake enough cake to get the train moving uphill. He must be working quite hard on his next message. It's three days past the election and still nothing.

    4 more years of...

Interesting that there's a Mormon enclave in/near Moses Lake. Maybe the word "Moses" drew them there.
  22. You forgot 4) unemployed and a climber.
  23. Sorry, I'm not obese nor skinny nor stupid enough for Wal-Mart. Although I am pretty skinny...and stupid.
  24. Damn, it doesn't seem like 5.5% is a high unemployment rate. Seems pretty close to historical average. I think it was down to something like 4% in Clinton's Roaring late-90's. 5.5%, 4%, small difference but spells big issue to so many folks. Wasn't the unemployment rate like 7% a couple years ago? Either way: I suck.
