  1. The one star rating bandit here on CC.com.
  2. Great links! This thread rocks!
  3. ..perhaps unrelated.. only the United States surpasses Iran in gasoline imports by volume. Jobs suggested that consumers unhappy with the status quo should urge the world's four largest labels — Universal Music Group, EMI, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group — to sell their online catalogs without the DRM restrictions.
  4. Where is it?

    Who said:

Toasting the Shah of Iran a few months before he was ousted: [iran is an]"island of stability thanks to the love which your people give you." Said of Tito: "a man who believes in human rights." Said in Poland before Solidarity:"our concept of human rights is present in Poland much better than other European nations with which I am familiar." He said to Ceausescu: "Our goals are the same, to have a just system of economics and politics, to let the people of the world share in growth, in peace, in personal freedom, and in the benefits to be derived from the proper utilization of natural resources. We believe in enhancing human rights. We believe that we should enhance, as independent nations, the freedom of our own people." Yep it's that noble peace prize winning idiot:James Earl Carter
  6. Thats what I said.....I WANT them to be a choice, which they are not. This is wrong. I believe mtnfreak is incorrect that vaccines are mandatory. That said as a general rule I think not vaccinating your kids is no different than not using a seat belt. When ever I hear someone whining about vaccines I just feel sorry that the kids are cursed with such parents. Just posting because someone thought I was serious in my earlier post.
  7. They aren't kidding! The answer? Teaching proper morals. Here is an example: link one. It's not just women having consensual sex that need to be educated - gay kids are executed too. Of course there are ways around most problems: link
  8. Vaccinations like fluoridation are just another excuse for the man to pump a few more $$$ out of. Fight the power anyway you can. Don't vaccinate your children!

    Greed

Record Profits I wonder what has happened to the "greed" that generated these profits. Oil prices keep falling. Certainly something softened their greedy little hearts. I wonder just what it was. Pondering.
  10. You guy need to cheer up. Although I wasn't happy with all the off season activity, I am psyched about the new season. Organizing a season ticket pool is a total nightmare.
  11. Oly - Find the Mickboy remaster of Exiles on Main Street. Unbelievably groovy!
  12. Mariners
  13. Somehow this seems related.....
  14. Link Markets fail when it is possible to make one person better off without making someone else worse off, thus indicating inefficiency. Governments fail when an intervention is unwarranted because markets are performing well or when the intervention fails to correct a market problem efficiently. Winston concludes from existing research that the cost of government failure may actually be considerably greater than the cost of market failure: "My search of the evidence is not limited to policy failures. I will report success stories, but few of them emerged from my search." The prevalence of market failure is due to a lack of conviction in favor of markets, the inflexibility of intervening government agencies, and political forces that enable certain interest groups to benefit at the expense of society as a whole. Winston suggests that government policy can be improved by making greater use of market-oriented solutions that have already produced benefits in certain situations.
