  3. quote: Originally posted by Winter: If you were a true sport climber you would be wearing two crash pads on your back with a dozen quickdraws and a boom box shoved in the middle, sandwiched around a case of red bull, a cheap digital movie camera and a copy of "How to Climb 5.12." does the metolius xxl count as two pads? if someone brings a boom box and a digicam i've got all the rest.
  4. quote: Originally posted by Dru: nononono - second week of october is Leavenworth; second week of November is Smiff Rox Tuffy-tuff. i'll be there the first weekend of october. someone with an emt or wfr certification might want to be on hand at the bottom of the pope in case i never make it to the first clip.

  7. if you forget your bouldering pad for those scary no-pro starts, highlander makes a good substitute.
  8. i just saw e-rock buying tape. you better watch out for that guy!!!
  9. what's up with the board; seems to be some technical difficulties going on ... if you're really dying to know i was born "half-buddhist" and half ... uhh ... not buddhist. i think judaism is a pretty awesome, though, and i've done some in-depth exploration of it - both as a religion and a culture. for the likes of a bunch of you, i would think judaism had a bunch of appeal. where else do you get to do shots of vodka after "church" and are told to celebrate sex every sabbath?
  10. i'm insatiable. (and i can deal with ALL y'all!!)

  12. yeah, it's a fun climb, but i just did it less than 2 months ago. i haven't done diedre since april. i also don't know if calculus crack would be "appropriate" for someone who's maybe never climbed a crack before. i want them to think of trad climbing as fun as much as it is challenging.
  13. he looks like he tried to climb into one of those aluminum popcorn popper thingamajigs.
  14. i wish i could come watch the hangdogging flailfest! please post a tr and some pics when you get back ...
  15. not sure if it's exactly what you're looking for, but my quick internet search turned this up: http://www.adventuresports.com/asap/product/mpi/extreme-bag.htm
  16. quote: Originally posted by Cletus: Actually, I have a stellar strip sequence of "a friend" (uh, yeah, that's it) taken on Mt. Bachelor on a dare, but there is no way in a million FUCKING years that I would ever post it. c'mon cletus; we know you WANT to!!!
  17. oh, never mind; this is just about climbing. i thought there was going to be actual spanking involved.
  18. and in that case, better leave the rope and named helmets at home!
  19. quote: Originally posted by erik: this should clear it all up!!! huh? oh, wait ... ha, ha, ha.

  21. i did snake last time i was in squish. i've also done a troll's sonnet (which leaves me with no desire to do banana peel). and i did calculus crack in july. i just remember diedre (as my first climb in squish and my first multi-pitch climb and only a few weeks since i'd really started climbing) got me really excited.
  22. it's not that crowded. if you get up early you don't have to deal with lineups. i climbed diedre in april but i wasn't leading back then. i'm thinking of doing it again (except leading this time) because i might be taking someone who hasn't done any trad climbing whatsoever and i think they would enjoy it. just wondering about the direct start as an alternative (in case there ARE a bunch of people at the regular one).
  23. quote: Originally posted by fern: I thought it started down where Snake starts and angles up and right toward the dihedral?? or is that something else (imaginary) whoa, dude; that would NOT be a very direct start! snake and diedre are quite far apart.
  24. what is the diedre direct start like? is it all slab or does the corner system start there?
  25. you never know with those italians!
