You replace every sling every time you replace your rope?! include cam slings? I try to replace my rope every other year or so, because it is usually starting to look a bit ragged by then because it is used more than any other piece of my equipment. I don't think I could afford to replace all of my slings that often... Some of my stuff is a bit older (and some even a lot older), and most of it does not look too bad. So I guess I feel comfortable with it all because i still climb on it. Just wondering when i should plunk down a good chunk of change to resling all my cams, and buy new draws. my webbing usually goes when I have to leave it for rap slings. Writing dates on it is not a bad idea. Do you use a Sharpie, or a $20 pen especially formulated for writing on life saving equipment? Thanks

I am sure this has been pondered here before, but when do most of you replace your slings, draws, webbing and all that soft sewn stuff that wears out over time?

WOW, and there is a whole 3 votes. What other computer did you use to vote for yourself?

I guess you assumed that I am expecting all of these sevices. I think that we (as a state and nation) do way too much and pay excessively for it. Yes, I usually do vote for tax cuts, but I also vote against new programs and eveything else that costs money, like the whole stadium debacle. I do not think ferries should be subsidized, it is your choice to live where you want, and if you can't afford to take the ferry across the sound to get to work, they you should find a new place to live. I don't need free parks, I am willing to pay a user fee, if it is reasonable and the money stays with the parks. I would pay the $35 for a yearly parking pass to the parks, or $5 a day. IF the money is going to stay with the parks. Why should I pay a fee to the parks that is going to pay for keeping someone in prison, or to build a new stadium. And I do agree that there is waste and all that crap, but it is everywhere, in private corporations, and government. I think private corporations have done a better job of cleaning up because they have shareholders to make happy. sorry for the rant, but these are a few of my thoughts.

Well I am not going to run out and buy the newest edition of Rock n Road. For the most part it told everyone about the place everyone knew about. Then it also gave everyone directions to every choss pile in the states, that are not worth climbing. If you are going out of state to climb, you know where you are going to, or you can stop by any local climbing shop and they will glad to tell you where the great spots are, or at least they will sell you the local guide books.

I love politicians. The parks raise their fees to have more money to keep parks open, and then the state takes it all and more, leaving the parks worse off than before they raised the fees. Why parking fees leave a lot to be desired

So Greg, you mean to tell me you are afraid of an 80 year old astronaut. I am pretty sure you could take him if you had too.

I was lucky enough to join some friends who scored some preview tickets for Xtreme Ops. Yep you are all right, it was worse than Vertical Limit. However, if you go in with Xtremely low expectations, and just want to see some fun skiing, it was not too bad. Definitely got me wanting to hit the slopes if the snow ever falls. But, as far as acting, story, and all of the stuff that a real movie is made of, it makes you want to run the other way, or just laugh as hard as you can at how bad a movie really can be.

WOW things are a bit more difficult to actually read. We are almost just overloaded with stuff on the page. Options are great and all, but simple is good. or maybe i just got used to the old one, and just need to spend a bit of time getting used to the new layout. and, i have been out for awhile, and now that I am back, i got demoted back down to a lurker. I worked long and hard on my 100+ posts... oh well, back to work.

Rope-up did rock. Finally got to meet and see all you people out there, and can now put real faces to those names. Had a great time on Outerspace, one of the best climbs around, and enjoyed a day cragging at the Pearly Gates, and of course drank some beer. Thanks TG, that was some damn good sh*t.

I might try it, though; might make some cool puke. Greg W Greg you found me out , I was going to win too That puke would be kind of like something from Aliens.
