sorry - nothing on the nose that isn't readily available elsewhere. nobody wants this stuff? they get thrown in the recycling this week...
-
hah - it has been over a year since i climbed last i'll be down in medford the first weekend in april. if you are around we should catch up.

as i don't foresee another extended trip to the valley in my future i will cleanse myself of temptations. rather than throw them out i figured someone would have use for them. i have a stack of nicely organized trip reports and topos (some even prepped for wall use) for many of the 'moderate' valley wall routes. PM me if you are interested and you can come by to pick them up. i live in NE PDX. next, some hardware...

So i skied the West Crater on Hood Friday morning (5/18) as part of the Wang Dang Doodle. While we climbed up the east side of CR, I skied the green line shown below. However, once below CR, I took the green line instead of the red line that i had been following. it looked to be a few days old... Who skied this line and where did you go? it did look impressive. Also, anyone familiar with this ski descent, does the traditional descent go through the bottom of the Crater? that seems to be the obvious path, but it is melted out at the moment. The face at the bottom of the descent shown below is pretty steep.

you saw the wy'east from t-line?? if so, i'm assuming you aren't asking about the popular ski descent...

nice job but this is a tough one. the nose, although a bit contrived, is much more classic in my opinion. then again, the bottom of the nose does not compare to 'free blast'...

thanks for the info - it is a 4 cylinder '99 tacoma.

i justify this as 'climbing related' since many of us drive them... can anyone recommend a Toyota mechanic in PDX? i have some work beyond the typical maintnence and now would be a good time to search someone out (besides a dealership). thanks.

nice tick layton, i saw you and marcus walking down this afternoon from the interstate. as for crown jewel, we checked it out on saturday and by 11 it was falling apart. driving by today however, it did look a bit better... hard to judge the ice in these conditions - i'll continue to error on the safe side i guess. congrats to those who got out.

does anyone know where to get thermo liners for the Scarpa T1. i know you can buy them directly from Scarpa for $200 but was wondering if anyone knew of a cheaper option....

i agree with the above. don't buy a hammock unless you plan to use it for emergencies OR are VERY concerned about weight.... read: you won't be hauling. if you are hauling, then get a ledge. and, if you are going to get a ledge - save up and buy a proper ledge. lastly, if you do get a ledge, get a double. even if you plan to solo. you can always use the extra room, but can never fit two on a single. my vote is for the cliff cabana. built well, comfy, a bit finicky to setup but worth it. metolious is in the same league. the BD skylounge should only be considered if you can get it cheap - heavy, small(er), and no bed tensioners.

i agree that we should avoid the rogue but it may be the most reasonable option. other options are: Yurs - dive on the other side of 405. pub grub, bar games, and cabbies to bullshit with . Touche - 14th/Glisan. if it wasn't for the pinball and TG on tap i wouldn't consider. Jimmy Maks - jazz club with good (and cheap) greek food. may have music and a $5 cover that night.. the pearl is a vacuum for decent drinking establishments - i wouldn't mind a walk or streetcar ride from NW or downtown. anyone else have ideas?

does anyone have more input on the weather up there this weekend? website is saying 30% chance on Sat and 70% on Sun - curious what some locals might make of this forecast...

Portland hand specialists recommendations
mwills replied to Gaper_Jeffy's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
bump - looking for one in the area as well. A2 pulley on middle finger. if not, can anyone reccomend rehab that worked well for them. pretty sure it is a partial tear - i've been off for about 2 months. only slight pain when applying resistance and no pain when pressure applied on top of pulley. besides massage and ice/hot - what else has worked for you? ultrasound? -
i agree - good beer, great people, and some eye candy to keep your attention. looking forward to the next - the best trips are born from debauchery. thanks to the host/hostess and TG for the beer.

for headphones, go with the Grado Labs SR60: http://www.turntablelab.com/index1-eq.html these are hands down the best headphones for the price. they were designed with portable players in mind and don't need an amp. don't bother with FM transmitters. for those with a decent receiver in their vehicle, you can use an use an RCA auxilary input adapter on the cd-changer port. i did this and the sound is great. if you have some money to waste, i heard that alpine has a deck which you can used to control the ipod...... http://www.alpine-usa.com/products/leading_technology/leading_tech_kca-420i.htm

have to second the vote for Lompoc - $2 pints on Mondays. good beer!! but then you would have to miss the $.50 cent tacos at Nob Hill. for clubs, the Gypsy is a pretty good time. music-wise, Bitter End at 20th/burnside gets some good shows. Stepping Stone cafe at 24/Quimby has good breakfast. the best coffee in the area is at Vivace on 23rd/Pettygrove. oh, and for Sushi you have to go to Mio Sushi at 23/Johnson.
