It is more like April or May than early Feb. salbrecher, Fred T and I climbed Gate Mountain. This was a hiking and postholing trip. The view looked just like this: (blank nothingness). wE reached one of several summits and stefan and i restrained fred from continuing to tick all the other ones by the simple expedient of voting 2-1 that the summit we occupied, was the highest one. i think on a sunny day there are good views but all i saw was clouds, trees, frosted trees and ice feathers on trees. it snowed a tiny bit above 4500' but most of the snow was isothermal glop. since there is no winter and i have already climbed the rambles and marble canyon numerous times, all i can say is that its gonna be a long spring if it stays this wet.

my hands don't "get" cold, they just "feel" cold to others. you know, , your hands are cold!!!!

if they were high school students on groomed trails, did they have pieps and shovels and probes, i wonder.

The Coquihalla area, has some good rock, and some that resembles uncooked oatmeal. Yak Crack in particular has a lot of the latter style. Take a bowl with you and save some for breakfast the next day. That said, its not the teetering, choss pile loose death heap, many Squamish climbers would have you believe. Compared to the Rockies or Vantage, its solid city.

If you are looking for remoter fun try Vicuna No squids or gapers there. yet.

9 8 hour days, over 2 years (my anniversary is comin up soon nw!) is not a lot. i climb more than I post, by that logic !!!

I think your shot is of the East face, you cannot see the North face, and Doug is on the left skyline. But who knows.

shhhhh no one ever looks at that site it is really tough to get in there. in fact there are camouflaged grizzly bears, hidden in every part of that picture, and it is raining too.

Im actually not sure, because it doent look like the view of the peak i am familiar with (from near mouth of post Creek). Its either the skyline ridge on the right starting up the buttress second from right, or its the vague buttress facing the camera, with the botttom hidden behind a foreground bump, just left of the arch feature???? where were you when you took it, along the lakeshore?
