Pete_H Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Why not just cut the posts out and leave the concrete? Ain't going to hurt anything. Quote
ivan Posted March 22, 2015 Author Posted March 22, 2015 gotta put the fence back in to contain the dog, the chickens n' the frack'n children it's all gonna work out - just gotta get a true n' honest drunk on first, then go rent some power-tools Quote
Pete_H Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 Yeah I've found with these projects about 90% of success is having the right tools. Quote
Ben Beckerich Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I'm a little late to the party on this one... but cemented posts is generally a GOOD thing.. your fence probably would have fallen over 10 years ago, if it'd just been bare post stuck into the ground. Having dug many o footings out, there's two ways to go about it... 1, just dig it out. It's probably 1.5' deep max, and while it's a PITA, at least you'll get strong. Or 2, rent an electric jackhammer. They exist, and they work GREAT for projects just like this. You'll be done in about 20 minutes, including running your powercord. They won't chop up boulders in your cornfield, but they'll make short work of cement footings. I've hacked up pretty large pads, in fact - we did a 24"x36" reinforced footing under a apartment building catwalk in probably 45 minutes once. POWERTOOLS! Quote
olyclimber Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 imo it is stupid NOT to put your posts in without concrete. Quote
pcg Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 I just pulled out a half dozen cemented fence posts.. wet ground + chain + 4wd truck + 1 min digging on truck side = pop right out Two of them did break off, but six did not. Or.. saw off the posts and leave the cement in the ground. Shift the post pattern a few feet and make new holes. Quote
G-spotter Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Need time machine to intervene in 1930s stock market, become own grandfather. Will return it yesterday if you let me borrow it tomorrow, then you will have two and you can loan me one of them and keep using yours. Sorry no morlocks. Quote
ivan Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 all the negative energy made me stronger (plus i made larger holes to throw the old concrete into the mix) Quote
