Tiger Lily Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I'm very new to alpine climbing and am looking for some good beginner routes in the Cascades. I haven't taken any alpine courses but work on a high ropes course. I summitted Mt. Rainier via the Disappointment Cleaver Route with RMI last year and summitted the South Spur of Mt. Adams this past fall. I've been thinking about: --Hogsback on Mt. Hood --Mt. Baker's Easton Glacier --Mt. Angeles (Olympics) in the winter Any input or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Quote
DPS Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Mount Hood: South route/Hogsback Mount Baker: Coleman-Demming, Boulder Glacier, and Easton Glacier Mt Shuksan : Fisher Chimneys, Sulphide Glacier Ruth-Icy Traverse has amazing views. Eldorado: East Ridge Sahale: Quien Sabe Glacier Colchuck Peak: Colchuck Glacier Quote
genepires Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 throw in a healthy dose of cragging rock climbing and some ice climbing to wi-3. A solid technical base makes everything in the alpine a little bit easier. Quote

YakCLimber78 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Cooper Spur on Hood East Peak on Ingalls Quote
Alex Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 (I kind of don't like recommending Cooper Spur because, while it is scenic, using it as a decent route is notorious for its run-out and history of accidents.) Quote
