Kristian Kalsing Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I assume the main entrances to the park will be closed during the government shutdown. I'm hoping to climb Observation Rock this weekend. Does anyone know if the Mowich Lake Road will be gated too? Quote
JasonG Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 As long as the government is shut down, it will be closed, guaranteed. Quote
KaskadskyjKozak Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 It's gated in winter; easy enough to lock and gate now until the government shutdown is over. The road can be biked. Quote
rob Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 sorry Officer, when I got there the gate was open! I didn't know! Quote
DPS Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The road is gated at Paul Peak, it adds about 5.5 miles each way to the approach. I've biked the road for early season ascents of Ptarmigan Ridge, it goes pretty quickly. In winter there is a ski trail, marked in the trees, which cuts off some distance. Quote
