Toast Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 Hey mattp, I think I just found that in-city boulder I been lookin' fer. Yeehaw! Quote
PullinFool Posted December 17, 2002 Posted December 17, 2002 Feels like a bat guano traverse due to the paint, etc. Some hard top outs, too! Check out the neighbors peering at you! Good for that contact training. First went there in 1973, looked bigger at 10 Quote
mattp Posted December 17, 2002 Author Posted December 17, 2002 Toast- If you go, be ready for the interagency SWAT team to show up. PullinFool is right, the Wedgewood Boulder is slippery and not all that impressive, really, but it is pretty cool that there is this law in the Seattle City Code. Quote
icegirl Posted December 26, 2002 Posted December 26, 2002 glad I found it before i knew about the ordinance... Slippery, but neat, yes... and the trees make for some easy (but sticky) "rests" while working out the problem Quote
forrest_m Posted December 26, 2002 Posted December 26, 2002 that boulder was on my paper route when i was 13, when i was just getting into climbing. i would do the easy route in my tennis shoes a couple of times every day. when you're a goofy kid, people expect you to do stuff like that and i never got any hassle. or maybe they knew that if they called the cops, they'd never get a newspaper again. i don't ever remember seeing graffiti back then, but i did once see some people set up a top rope on it. fleblebleb Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 Is there any logical reason for the ordinance? I haven't seen the boulder, is it big enough to get hurt falling off? I just don't understand why there have to be all these rules and whatnot, if people want to risk their ankles climbing around on a boulder that should be their business no? Quote
Gary_Yngve Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 And the penalty: SMC 12A.54.020 Violation -- Penalty. Anyone convicted of a violation of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). (Ord. 99363 Section 1(b), 1970.) Quote
