rob Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Every time you post pics of your kid batting, the catcher always has his eyes closed. ??? Quote
olyclimber Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Ulee's bat makes a pretty good pop noise, maybe its a reaction to that. in those photos the catcher doesn't have to worry about the ball...its going the other direction. though I take a ton of photos, and there are plenty where even the batters have their eyes closed. usually doesn't work out well for them. rob Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Hard to catch a fly ball or foul tip at the plate with your eyes closed  I caught in little league for years before eventually switching to 3rd and I don't remember ever closing my eyes, but perhaps you're right, maybe it's just an involuntary blink that happens to get caught on camera. But, as you point out, the batter's eyes aren't closed.  Man, I sure learned to hate aluminum bats playing infield, though, that's for sure. Spicy! Quote
olyclimber Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 the new composites are even scarier...though they now have rules about the pop the bats can have....(BPF rating, aka the amount of trampoline effect) Quote
Peter_Puget Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 Let me just say that the Safe was awesome last night! 15,000 fans enjoying the new big screen! Quote

Peter_Puget Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Mariners rule! Â I don't think I am going to opening day at the Safe. Just needed to cut back a bit!! Quote

Off_White Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I'd like to offer my condolences to Peter and Oly for your loss... Quote
olyclimber Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 what loss? I can't remember those! Opening day at the Safe today...and even if Peter is letting the team down by missing this incredible moment, Ulee and I will be there...look for us on TV when we catch a foul ball up the 1st baseline! Quote
matt_warfield Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) Didn't you hear that they have changed the name to the Seattle Mediocres? Â I had to move away just because of sports. Seahawks are coming on a bit but we lost the Sonics to OK where they are championship caliber and don't even have an NHL team while Cali and Florida do and we are right next to Canada! Sheesh. Edited April 8, 2013 by matt_warfield Quote
olyclimber Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Don't worry Matt! Change is in the air! Â Â Soon our sporting teams will be hoisting the trophys, cups, and banners and all will rejoice! Quote
olyclimber Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 the safe was electric tonight. i got to watch Rick Ankiel strike out for his 11th and 12th time in only 14 at bats! Quote
Peter_Puget Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Prediction: smoak will be gone after the all star break at the latest. Â I'll be in West Seattle tonight watching g baseball - and checking out Bedard on the phone. He should be in our bullpen Quote
olyclimber Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I don't know...Smoak seemed to be hitting the ball well in spring, I had hoped he had turned the corner somewhat. He does seem to be on everyone's chopping block, and 1st base is for hitters. Â Hopefully Ackley figures it out too. Â Zunino seems to be doing pretty well so far down at Tacoma! Â We'll be at the K-Center for a while this evening, what field will you be at? Hiawatha? Quote
Peter_Puget Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Mariners are performing just like Obama! Edited April 10, 2013 by Peter_Puget Quote
olyclimber Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 At least they aren't performing like Bush. LOL Quote

olyclimber Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Peter, don't be such a downer. Its best to keep a bright and cheery disposition while you're turning things around! Â I really enjoyed watching the boys almost mount an incredible comeback in the bottom of the 9th! So close. Â And guess what happens tomorrow? Quote
