CascadeClimber Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Took a while to get this one done. Lots of pics and lots of prose, enjoy either or both. http://www.cascadeclimber.com/blog/2013/01/28/mt-rainier-gibraltar-ledges-january-18-19-2013/ Quote
JasonG Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Such a great write up, thanks! I have to admit that on my winter "ascent", due to a lot of factors, I stopped at the rim. Way to complete it in good style and ski from the tippy top. Proud. Quote
markwebster Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Awesome write up! Impressive that you hauled the ski's and a big camera up too. I did that decades ago in January...I still remember the terror of downclimbing Gib chute. One of our guys fell there, we barely stopped him. Well done. Quote
JasonG Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Also, I would be interested to learn how Victor has his SLR rigged to his pack. I have worked out an OK system, but I am always looking to improve upon it. Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 Nice, sounds a lot like my trip in the same January inversion a few years ago, except we left the skis at Muir. Nice when everything comes together for a "mellow" outing like that! Quote
bdcast34 Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Have you ever tried using a BlackRapid camera strap? I use one all the time and find it the best solution. Has stoppers so you can position it back and around your side out of the way when not in use, then you unlock the stoppers when you want to slide it forward. Always stays on the strap and secured. (not a spokesmen) http://www.blackrapid.com/products/sport Great job on your successful climb by the way! Good stuff. Edited February 13, 2013 by bdcast34 Quote
