Gnash Posted February 4, 2002 Posted February 4, 2002 Hi! Just looking for any info any of you might have on the current conditions of the ice in the North Ghost River area (GBU, VAlley of the Birds, House of Sky). Also for the Canmore area, I was wondering what the snowcover is like (Coire Dubh Integral etc.). Thanks G Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Maybe Will Gadds page has info? What is it http://www.gravsports.com/Ice%20Pages%20Folder/Route%20Descriptions/Conditions.htm or something? [ 02-04-2002: Message edited by: Cpt.Caveman ] Quote
specialed Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Last I heard, it was really cold and snowy. Bad Avy danger and everyone was skiing. I don't know about the current conditions, but I recently saw an article about the North Ghost. That place looks sick!! I'm headed out to Golden in March if conditions permit and I'm stoked to ice climb in the Rockies!!! Quote
Gnash Posted February 5, 2002 Author Posted February 5, 2002 Thanks for the info Captain,I was just hoping that someone had some more recent info. I think the most recent posting on Will's site is Jan. 16.Do you know any other site with info? G Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 I had a friend that just returned saturday. I dont know if he went to the ghost.. His screen name is Sisu Suomi. Maybe he will post. sobo Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Try the Rock and Ice rag's ice conditions page. It's something likehttp://www.rockandice.com/index.phtml?section=ice It brings up a table with areas to choose from. Used to be pretty accurate site a few years ago. You guys on cc.com seem to be more up to date more recently, tho. Quote
daler Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Gnash, I climbed Wicked wanda and Malignant in the south ghost and Hydrophobia in the North ghost about a month ago. All three were in great shape!! It is a low snow year in the ghost as of 3 weeks ago and most of the approaching is on dirt or grass. When the Banff/lake louise area gets pounded by snowfall the ghost rarely has much accumulation. dale Quote
