Who makes a lightweight gaiter for summertime climbs when I just need em for some short periods? My OR's are too big and heavy for some trips.

Try the mountain hardwear stretch gaiters. They're sweet and they look awesome.

OR makes many different kinds of gaitors. Have you looked at some of their trail gaitors?

Yea there are a bunch out there. Just wondering what others folks have used and liked.

Some of the lighter Rab gaiters are nice. I've used OR croc's, verglas, and flex-tex too. For use with trail shoes the Flex Tex's are awesome. Fit has a lot to do with my preferences, and the Verglas have the same cut as the OLD croc's which works for me.

I have some super light short softshell gaiters from Montbell that work well as a really simple gasket to keep the snow/scree out of my shoes in the summer. I've had to replace the bungy cord underfoot several times but it's easy and the softshell fabric is easy to repair for the inevitable tears. They don't like to stay on all my low top shoes though in snow. I'd recommend something similar though, I think MH, OR, and MEC (maybe REI too) make short softshell gaiters that are similar. I opted for not having any sort of velcro/zipper and haven't really regretted it although you have to take your shoe off to put the gaiter on/off.

Integral Designs makes a short eVent gaiter for trail hiking in muddy, wet conditions. I've heard they work pretty well.
