Choada_Boy Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I'm pretty sure I hyper-extended my knee. I did it 4 months ago and it's still not 100% back to normal. Symptoms: -Hurts -Hurts standing up after sitting for a while -Hurts to extend fully -The classic "morning stretch" in bed each morning results in a weird "ratcheting" of the knee -Feels like there are about three additional movements in my leg while walking compared to my normal leg's stride. -Tight Achilles Tendon -Balancing on the ball of the foot of that leg with knee bent results in "sewing machine knee". Regardless, I'm not willing to rest on it anymore, and I've been working out on it again but I'd like to hear any thoughts or advice for future therapeutic action. Thanks! Quote
Tyson.g Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Choada - If you have insurance or the ability to see a doctor I recommend it. I screwed my knee up in January and it ended up being a sprained MCL and a strained PCL. Symptoms pretty similar to what you are describing. It only took some physical therapy and I am close to 90% of my former self. My buddy did the same thing same day and did no physical therapy or anything and is still in a brace and complaining. Don't let it go and cause furhter injury or allow it to reduce your activities/quality of life. Just my 2 cents. Best of luck! Quote

Zoran Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Can you bike a little? In lower gears of course. My PT recommended it and I feel much better. I also follow his suggested exercises for example making squats but supported by wall. Not deep squats, very slowly down and than move up to extend both legs gently (30 repetitions). Also I jump sideways in the swimming pool. Water helps ... On the street I try to walk normally. That is very important. Don't rush, just try to walk as you walked before the injury. Go to see PT or good doctor. Have a MRI ... Quote
