StreetBoss Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Just finished it up. Good read and looking forward to the next book in the series. Edited February 2, 2011 by StreetBoss Quote
G-spotter Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Big spoiler: in the second one she solves Fermat's Last Theorem. In the third one she beats Superman in an arm wrestling contest, gets voted in as UN Secretary General, and ushers in world peace. Meanwhile Blomkvist fucks Cate Blanchett and Cameron Diaz at the same time, while winning the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for literature. Quote
ScottP Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 That series jumped the shark for me at the point of the hole-in the-ground-incident near the end of the second book. (Unlike Dru, I don't want to be a dick and give away anything ) Quote
Off_White Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Did someone say Dragon Tattoo? [video:youtube] Quote
G-spotter Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Sorry, it's tripe. I was surprised by that, given the politics of the novelist I figured you and j_b would be all over it while FW and Jay_B would be slamming it? Quote
Off_White Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Uhm Dru? It's fiction. A serious man has no business reading fiction. Genre fiction at that, hmph. Quote
prole Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 "Sticking it to the man" I can get behind but I'm not sure that vigilantism and libtards getting their jollies from sadistic revenge scenarios has anything whatever to do with leftist politics. Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 I googled The Girl with the Draggin Tattoo and, man, I'll NEVER make that mistake again. Quote
G-spotter Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Plot summary: A bisexual anarchist anorexic genius and a left-wing defender of the Swedish welfare state kick the ass of various conservatives, pedobears, gangsters, rapists and Nazis. Prole's response: That's like, so mainstream, man. Edited February 2, 2011 by G-spotter Quote
111 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Didn't like it. decent book, but the author went a little too far describing the rape scenes Quote
Off_White Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Hah, I know what you mean. My wife and I listened to it on CD while driving across country, and you can't just skim over those bits when someone is carefully reading them aloud to you. The book certainly made the hot flat middle of the country much more bearable. Quote
prole Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 That's when you start looking for the furthest parking space in the next rest area. Unnghh... Quote
