Vernman23 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Trip: Mt. Erie - Powerline wall Date: 1/23/2011 Trip Report: Got out to Mt. Erie yesterday was a little damp and mossy, normally want a full day to dry things out but had to get out climbing. It was 50 and but felt warm and climbing was no problem. Just thought i would give an update. Approach Notes: Drive to top walk down Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Nice, I was hoping to head out there today but the weather kinda turned and it looked a bit damp. Vantage was nice and sunny Saturday. Quote
Vernman23 Posted January 24, 2011 Author Posted January 24, 2011 Yea all week it looked like today was gonna be the day to get out but that didnt work out. looks like next week could have some nice days Quote
Jamie Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 BTW The last time I was at Mt. Erie I tried to locate the powerline wall and somehow missed it. Do you have the Lon-Lat or an easy way to find it? Quote
sandalsclub Posted January 28, 2011 Posted January 28, 2011 No easy way to find most cliffs at Erie. A lon-lat would be sweet. I love that place even though it can be a maze! Quote
Vernman23 Posted January 29, 2011 Author Posted January 29, 2011 i dont have the quads right now should be out there some time next week so i can get them...the easiest way is to go to the top park walk down the road about 300' or so...there is a small parking area here about 3 cars can fit (you can also park here) follow the trails south and west down the mountain...you going to go under some powerlines along the way...you are close keep going west along the top of the cliff band and you should see some gullies down, they can be pretty steep but short...i know this is not the best description ill look at the gps and see if i can find something better...pick yourself up the print out book at the mt erie store its about 5 bucks and can be useful Quote
mattp Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 A bit of thread drift, I know, but the rangers have asked climbers to stay out of the area around Skyline Buttress for the next month or so until they determine where the Peregrines are going to nest this year. WCC Update Quote
Vernman23 Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) Little bit more thread drift but the slings on top of snag buttress could be replaced before they are to tight around the tree, dont want to hurt the good rap tree. Next time I am up there ill replace them but if anyone is up there before me it would be nice to see them replaced/loosened. On a side note felt warm up there today in a t shirt. Main wall west was nice and dry. Edited February 2, 2011 by Vernman23 Quote
Jamie Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Wow. Thanks all for the coordinates and the nice google map. BTW I switched the lon-lat to deg and minutes: 48-27.2178' by 122-37.7556' Quote
bwwakaranai Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 The Orange Wall had some new Stainless hardware now. Thank you Mr. Geddes. More mank on the Snag Buttress to work on next. Quote
