kinnikinnick Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 has anyone been up there in past couple days? is the south face of prusik snow-free? are rock routes on northern aspects still in wintry conditions? conditions/cornices on routes like ICG on stuart? thanks! Quote
counterfeitfake Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 SF Prusik was completely snow-free last weekend (8 days ago). The NF still had a fair amount of snow on it. We hit solid snow at Snow Lake. Hiking on the sandy beach is much easier than trying to follow the snowy bootpack. I saw a picture of the ICG on Saturday 6/12 that still showed a pretty major cornice. Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I finally put some pictures online of our three day backpack last weekend. There is a pic of the South Face of Prusik looked nice and dry. http://picasaweb.google.com/matthiesen/EnchantmentsTripWithCourtneyAmyAndBrendan# Quote
kevino Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks for the pictures. So technically now do you need permits? But I'm assuming the chances of anyone checking are slim... Quote
denalidave Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 Thanks for the pictures. So technically now do you need permits? But I'm assuming the chances of anyone checking are slim... Chances are good a backcountry ranger will check for your permit. Quote
summitchaserCJB Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 The answer to your question is yes, Kevino. It started the 15th AFAIK. Quote
kevino Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 I know it started the 15th summitchaser. I was more curious about if any rangers are actually going into the upper enchantments. But nevermind... Quote
OlympicMtnBoy Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I'm pretty sure they do a regular loop, at least on the weekends, all through permit season. I would expect to get checked if you are on the main trail then. Hardly a soul up there the last non-permit weekend though! Quote
