sketchfest Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Wish I could B-rock, but I got a honey-do list a mile long. No play for me Quote
erik Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 sketch bring here along.... honey do this route honey do this route....... hehehehe Quote
jkrueger Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Damn! I took last weekend at Smith, so it's only fair that sk gets this weekend... Perhaps another time. Climb on! Quote
sketchfest Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 Oh how I wish I could, unfortunately she aint much of a climber. Last summer I took her down to Smith to try a little bolted tuft. She took 1 hour to struggle/flail up "Lichen it" (.7) just to get to the anchors and discover that she is afraid of heights (unkown fear). After 2 hours of nurturing, pleading and some serious thought of running out some slack and pushing her off, she was willing to lower down. So the likelyhood of getting her to Beacon...probably not to high. Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 You would not have much fun with a belay slave at Beacon if they are unwilling to get off the ground. Lots of multi-pitch fun to be had in the moderates and the spraymaster levels. I'll never forget the time I was thrutching up the SE corner as a friend soloed past me on Jills Thrill with a haul bag full of beer for the soiree on the ledge. Quote

erik Posted September 13, 2002 Author Posted September 13, 2002 i think the grades at beacon are fair...just like index is fair.... keeps my micro ego at bay.... Quote
rbw1966 Posted September 13, 2002 Posted September 13, 2002 "pretty true/hard/sandbagged for their grade". . . Say what? They seem pretty spot on to me but I'm no pro. I'm more at home on the snow and just an aspiring rock jock. For a real thrill I recommend doing Free for All (5.8) but doing the right hand variation. Getting to the top of the pillar is, um, inspiring. I got the brown point on that one. Quote
sketchfest Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 Beacon seems fairly consistant with the grades. Broughton on the other hand is all over the board. Quote
Happy-Go-Lucky Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 Yup, classic crack: 5.9. whatever! Going back to Smith this weekend. You folks have a good time at Beacon. fg Quote
sketchfest Posted September 14, 2002 Posted September 14, 2002 Eeeggggzactly! "Classic Crack" a true sandbaggers delight...5.9...yeah, whatever! Quote
