Zee Posted July 1, 2002 Posted July 1, 2002 Wondering about how much snow in the Enchantments. Is Nada or Snow Lake free of snow? How about the descent from Aasgard Pass to Snow Lake. Is West Ridge of Prusik snow free? Thanks for the info as I have a group of friends worried about the descent from the pass. Quote
Greg_W Posted July 1, 2002 Posted July 1, 2002 Nada is snow free, two weeks ago we saw some snow under the trees along Snow Lake; however, several campsites were snow-free. Are you asking about the descent from Asgaard to Colchuck Lake? This has snow and is very manageable, as of a week ago. West Ridge of Prusik is snow free. Someone may have more up-to-date info on snow levels, but that is what we saw. If your friends are going in to do Prusik, hiking in via Snow Creek Wall is probably the better way to go, less time on snow (could hike in sneakers if they wanted to). Cpt.Caveman Posted July 1, 2002 Posted July 1, 2002 Snow lakes get ready to wade the damn between upper and lower snow lakes Quote
Highlander Posted July 1, 2002 Posted July 1, 2002 That was one heinous dam crossing , so refreshing. BE ware of the all the windfall, and watch out for snafflehounds there everywhere. Quote
Greg_W Posted July 1, 2002 Posted July 1, 2002 Heard from some people last week that the ranger station is making the Snow Lakes trail sound like a windfall horror-show. IMO it wasn't THAT bad, it's a short section and work crews have cleaned it up some. Still the way to go, as opposed to via Asgard. Quote
Gold_Slogger Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 I don't know if these guys know what they are talking about but it is a jungle climbing up the snow creek trail. We found lots of logs across the trail up there just a few weeks ago. Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted July 2, 2002 Posted July 2, 2002 Gold Slogger all three of us were up there two weeks ago. The trail is totally passable. Yes there are logs but if that deters you maybe you should just stay home and wank your meat on some "friendly" areas more often. Maybe you were one of the two guys stating "it's a jungle up there!" that I quickly walked past and was glad to ignore on the trail. [ 07-01-2002, 08:19 PM: Message edited by: Cpt.Caveman ] Quote
