Alpinfox Posted April 1, 2009 Share Posted April 1, 2009 140mph = level 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Scale. 6deg with 140mph wind = -34deg with windchill Since the wind is coming from the SSW, one would assume that Muir is partially protected. So is -45 with no wind.I have taken a deep breath of -45 and it felt like a mouth full of needles. My son was out driving in the -70 wind chill. Jens Posted April 2, 2009 Share Posted April 2, 2009 Rainier Summit in Winter can make Mt. Washington back East in Winter look like an all inclusive resort. Rainier can make anything or anywhere in the lower 48 look like club med. (Even on their worst days in their coldest days of winter).
