Dane Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Anyone got a picture or a better description of the gully to best approach the north side of Mount Snoqualmie ? Sounds like it is Phantom Slide? I was up there today and looks like snow shoes are going to be needed unless you guys left a good track going in. Quote
AlpineMonkey Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Dane, want to partner up and climb NY gulley on Saurday? Quote
Clarence Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 (edited) I skied up the phantom on Wednesday. The new snow started out pretty light, but was getting pretty heavy even by the afternoon. You'll almost definitely need some kind of flotation. Edited February 13, 2009 by Clarence Quote
Dane Posted February 13, 2009 Author Posted February 13, 2009 Craig, pm on the way. Sorry to be so obtuse. Can anyone tell me just what gully Phantom slide is? Is it the gully right behind the upper lift/upper parking at Alpental with the bit of ice on the bottom right side? Quote
AlpineK Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Yes it is the obvious slide path on Mt Snoqualmie just north of the lifts at Alpental. As of a couple weeks ago the tricky bit is going through the waterfall area down low. zig zag up through the trees on the left side. The current snow pack has made this bit a little more tricky than usual, but it isn't bad. Once through the waterfall area cut back right to the slide path. At the top of the open trees angle up to the left. You'll get to an open area with the summit above. A notch further left is the easy way to and back from the north side. If I may say wouldn't you rather have skis than slowshoes. Quote

Kat_Roslyn Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Craig, a skier may have said that to you because it is annoying when you are skinning and people walk in a skin track. Quote
telemarker Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Personally, I love skinning over urine in the middle of a skin track. Quote
