G-spotter Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 see attachment. This includes all reported new routes done up to April 2008 in the area covered by Don Serl's guide as well as a couple of new areas in the Okanagan (older Okanagan ice climbs are listed in the 1985 CAJ). There are also a few amendations, errata and missed routes listed. The grand total is something like 70 new or not previously reported routes. Sounds like cold will arrive tomorrow, & there should be climbable routes by midweek. Happy climbing! 3991.doc Quote
jordop Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Might want to throw this thing in there even if it is unfinished. Doubt I have the patience / wherewithal do go after it: http://cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=547475 Upper sections look problematic: Quote
marc_leclerc Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Mistake on 'Stuck in a Rut' Its not long pitch to belay cave.. its long pitch FROM belay cave to a tree belay above the falls.. It could be a grade 3 too.... now that I think back I remember a fairly sustained steep section at the top... Quote
G-spotter Posted October 25, 2009 Author Posted October 25, 2009 Well - the ice is still at minimum a month or so away but here is a new version of the WEST COAST ICE UPDATE with all climbs reported since WCI 2nd ed came out, through March 2009. Comments, amendations, errata desired for further editions. Total number of new routes is up to around 90 now from 70 in last years. 4115.pdf Quote
G-spotter Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) Turns out the version above has a couple minor omissions. Intended to post this one instead. Call this version 4.1 I guess. If you already downloaded the version above, the only differences between 4.0 and 4.1 are: -Royal Flush on Crown (Jordan's photo above) is now described; -a second hand rumor of another Whistler area route; -Landmark Gully "all ice" ascents are noted 4120.pdf Edited November 17, 2009 by G-spotter Quote
adrianburke Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Thanks D - I have the New Climbs list posted up on www.westcoastice.com now (in the new blog format). Is there a quick way for you to verify it's 4.1? Cheers, Adrian Quote
G-spotter Posted December 11, 2009 Author Posted December 11, 2009 Look and see if it has Royal Flush listed. If it does, it's version 4.1 Quote
G-spotter Posted November 6, 2010 Author Posted November 6, 2010 I updated this thing again with details of new and newly described routes climbed over the 2009-2010 season, which was generally a poor one. Despite that, another 7-8 new or previously unreported routes came to light, which puts the total number of new routes in this update around 100. And it's free! 4312.pdf Quote
G-spotter Posted November 4, 2011 Author Posted November 4, 2011 BUMP There's frost on the ground and frozen puddles... time to update the Update! Version 6.0 will be posted here and on WCI in the next few days. In the meantime, if you have any corrections, suggestions or unreported new routes from last season, let me know. Quote
blueserac Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Now who is going an playing in the Rugged Cirque these days? It has been a place of much fun and more than enough times to play avalanche matador. Nice, that one I have not tried. Quote
G-spotter Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 So we're up to Version 6.1 these days. See attachment. Somewhere over 100 new routes now. I suspect there are a number of unreported routes out there too. So even if you know of some old route from years gone by that isn't mentioned here or in WCI, let me know about it. Blueserac: Vancouver Island's out of guidebook coverage range for this bulletin but I should be up there (Woss area) next week and will report back on conditions. 4522.pdf Quote
