Peter_Puget Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 (edited) I "found" my beacon posters while reorganizing today. I slipped them into this frame until I figure out what to do with them and wondered what other people had done with theirs? Edited November 10, 2008 by Peter_Puget Quote
ivan Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 dunno - i'm still making do w/ olson 2nd edition guide (and eating spam'n'ramen), though the cover long ago detached from the binding and half the pages delaminated (not the story of xavier masters though - no, no, i had to cut those bitches out myself! i think i may actually have wiped my ass w/ a couple of them too) it's a cool poster, but still annoying in that there are a # of numbered routes listed that aren't depicted - wtf? Quote
denalidave Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Did the same thing, hung them on the wall in my home office. However, I need to get them in a frame or two. Was looking around my house for some frames that will work. Quote
denalidave Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Hey Ivan, just go to Mr Piton Liny and for $5 you will have 2 maps in your mailbox, probably the next day. Or, you can just wait for another one to come falling out of the sky and hope you catch it this time... that was pretty funny. Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Don't you get your ass kicked for opening that up at Beacon? I remember Jim getting all pissed when Olson was out sketching things down. Quote
JosephH Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Let alone when he was repeatedly shopping for FA information for it while denying the whole time that's what he was up to and being too busy to bother checking in with the BRSP to see if they might have any thoughts or preferences on the subject or anything to add in the way of new or changed info... billcoe Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Always with the "Poverty" thing. I'm buying us both one. I really really like how Tim conducted himself on the whole Ozone thing and want to support him. $5 bucks is cheap for that work of art, Tim draws well. PM me your address and I'll have it drop shipped right to you. Anyone else link: Link Quote
denalidave Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Don't you get your ass kicked for opening that up at Beacon? I remember Jim getting all pissed when Olson was out sketching things down. Maybe that's what happened to the guy that dropped the one above us that first came floating by us on Steppenwolf, then it was blown over within inches of Ivan's reach a few columns over. Thought for sure he was gonna catch the "beta from heavan". But then the wind blew it the other way. Jim sure seemed appreciative when I gave him my extra copy. Guess he needed some TP, rolling papers or sumpin? I was not here when the politically heyday at Beacon was going on, so I'm not going to get worked up over someone making a map. Looks nice on my wall anyway. Quote
JosephH Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 A little forthrightness and honesty around the process would have made the product a bit more palatable. As it is, the only 'poverty' was a arduous deficit of integrity in every single conversation and email about the project from the moment he approached me on the topic - exactly what others conveyed had transpired years before. Pardon me for not being at all pleased with my interactions with Mr. Olson to date... Quote

billcoe Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 BTW, Dave- Jim still treasures that Topo like a small treasure. Quote

pink Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 (edited) i rolled a really big "alpine joint" with my poster and hiked far above the tree line and fired that bitch up. Edited November 10, 2008 by pink Quote
kevbone Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 ...too busy to bother checking in with the BRSP Who cares what they think of someone drawing a picture of Beacon. Why would they care? Quote
kevbone Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Peter. How do you know so much about Portland climbing? Did you live here at some point and time? Quote
JosephH Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 ...too busy to bother checking in with the BRSP Who cares what they think of someone drawing a picture of Beacon. Why would they care? Well, if it were just a drawing it would be far less of an issue. As it is he's conveying quite a bit more than just the drawing and the BRSP-related info should have been verified with them. But as it was, Olson couldn't be bothered to check in with them. Quote
kevbone Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 What BRSP related info are you referring too? Quote
ivan Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 What BRSP related info are you referring too? perhaps the location of the secret rebel base? Quote
