sisu Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Has anyone observed or heard of conditions on the Stuart Glacier or the Triple Couloirs on Dragontail? Quote
kurthicks Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 probably a rubble filled mess full of certain death. Quote
DPS Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I got a good look at Dragontail, and there is a surprising amount of ice in the runnels for this time of year. Enough to climb? Not yet, or at least not by my standards. I think NE Couloir should be in really fun shape in a month or so. Quote
kevino Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Dan, have you climbed it this time of the year? Quote
DPS Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 (edited) Dan, have you climbed it this time of the year? Good God no! I think lately TC comes into shape late winter/early spring. I did it in Feb one year and the crux ice runnels were completely dry, so we did the North Face bypass (we felt it was much harder than TC BTW). Another year in April we did TC when the ice runnels were phat. Â I got a good look at the NE Couloir on Dragontail on Sundy and there was a continous ribbion of ice from top to bottom. I think with a few storms and freeze/melt cycle it will be in fun shape, perhaps in 4-5 weeks? Edited October 16, 2008 by danielpatricksmith Quote
kevino Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 Dan, Â I should have been more clear. I was talking about the NE Couloir. I'll have to check it out this weekend. Thanks for the info. Â -Kevin Quote
Panos Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Kevin, Â Email me or PM about your plans. Keep me updated about conditions. Â Ibex. Quote
TyClimber Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Did anybody check out the NE couloir on Dragontail this last weekend? It looks like some storms may be on the way in the next couple weeks to fill things in more. Quote
