Fairweather Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 (edited) First, that incredible cross-border raid, and now this. Let's hope this is the end of these FARC fuckers: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,375481,00.html Edited July 2, 2008 by Fairweather Quote

akhalteke Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 That sounds like quite the mission. Would like to see who was involved in that one. Quote
olyclimber Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 real secret real hush hush contractors take care of their own Quote
akhalteke Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 I don't think that the contractors would have been authorized a mission like that. Its possible I suppose. I just don't see that happening; politically speaking. Quote
prole Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Colombian right-wing paramilitary death squads working with some of your buddies from Ft. Bragg? Quote
olyclimber Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 from the ny post (where i get all my news of course) Don't be surprised if you have never heard of Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansell; The Post has published only three substantial stories about them in the past five years. All three are U.S. citizens who were working for Pentagon contractor Northrop Grumman when their surveillance plane crashed in a remote Colombian jungle on Feb. 13, 2003. Since then, they have been hostages of the FARC, confined with chains and forced to endure a nightmarish life of isolation, disease and brutality. Quote
prole Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Oops, I forgot...the Latin American right-wing paramilitary death squads train at Ft. Benning. Silly me. Quote

Communication with the FARC hit a rough patch in early March when the Colombian army mounted a cross-border attack on a rebel camp, killing a prominent FARC commander. Well, at least Fairweather liked it. Quote

Fairweather Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 Prole's just upset that his FARC buddies are takin' a beating. Right-wing death squads? I suppose after 40 years of communist kidnappings, bombings, and murder the folks just get fed up. Go figure. Just like Fujimori did with Shining Path in Peru, Uribe demonstrates that appeasement of these leftist groups is folly. Quote
prole Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I got no love for no FARC, but your simpleton's description of those conflicts sure ain't shedding any light on the subject. Quote

Jim Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Ft. Benning is not in Panama FYI - SOA used to be in Panama until it got booted in 1984. The School of the Americas (SOA), in 2001 renamed the “Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation,” is a combat training school for Latin American soldiers, located at Fort Benning, Georgia. Initially established in Panama in 1946, it was kicked out of that country in 1984 under the terms of the Panama Canal Treaty. Former Panamanian President, Jorge Illueca, stated that the School of the Americas was the “biggest base for destabilization in Latin America.” The SOA, frequently dubbed the “School of Assassins,” has left a trail of blood and suffering in every country where its graduates have returned. Over its 59 years, the SOA has trained over 60,000 Latin American soldiers in counterinsurgency techniques, sniper training, commando and psychological warfare, military intelligence and interrogation tactics. These graduates have consistently used their skills to wage a war against their own people. Among those targeted by SOA graduates are educators, union organizers, religious workers, student leaders, and others who work for the rights of the poor. Hundreds of thousands of Latin Americans have been tortured, raped, assassinated, “disappeared,” massacred, and forced into refugee by those trained at the School of Assassins. Quote

Um, you left something out comrade Jim. I've made your statement more accurate: Among those targeted by SOA graduates are communist educators, communist union organizers, communist religious workers, communist student leaders, and others communists who work for the rights of the poor. These right wing killers are almost always a direct and proportional response to the emergence of Marxist/Leninist insurgency. Do you expect people to just roll over? You and Prole don't seem too happy to hear about events in Colombia? Edited July 3, 2008 by Fairweather Quote
