I heard a rumour that someone was going to build a hut on the side of the squamish chief, does anyone know anything about this? Sounds pretty sketchy if you ask me.

Here's the Official Press Release. OMG!

NEW HUT ON SQUAMISH GRAND WALL

Kenny and Ard will meet at the Grand Wall parking lot on the May long weekend at 6:00 am each day where we

will be orchestrating the construction of the hut to go on the Grand Wall (at this time we are thinking of putting it either at the top of exasperator or else at the bottom of the 5.5 pitch on crap crags, probably on crap crags as it is more sheltered from rockfall there). We have are getting a "Backpack House" (LINK: http://freshome.com/2008/03/03/add-an-additional-room-to-your-apartment/) at the cost of 7300 USD and will be assembling it after hauling it up in pieces. We would like all keen workhikers to meet with any spare plywood/tin sheets they may have so that we can build a deflector shield style snow roof for the room/hut. With average annual snowfalls in Squamish totalling greater than 5 metres we should protect our investment. We hope to recoup some of the costs of the hut from donations from hut users so we are thinking of having a two dollar per person per night fee once it is up, the bright yellow colour we are ordering should help attract users. Solutions for a toilet/waste and possible running water are welcome. We will need a suitable name for the hut once it is up too. See you there!
