moronbros Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 This is a bad-ass gig. Now if I could just sell my house, dump my girlfriend, quit my current job, and move to Never-Never-Ham I'd be set. ho hum. Quote
Choada_Boy Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 MBMBMBMBMBMBMBMBMBMBMBMB MORON BROTHERS! As a former shop employee, I can say that it's not a bad deal, especially if you plan to spend all your earnings pro-dealing gear. Helping Dr. Lawyer buy $4000 worth of gear before he goes to Alaska for his first climbing trip can be a drag, though, on a few different levels. Quote
layton Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 This job is WAAAAAY better than actually guiding for them. don't put Polish Bob down as a reference though. I worked there over 8 years ago and still have lasting friendships from the people that worked there. Just don't use too many paper towels cleaning the vans or uncle D will dock your pay. Quote
Jens Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 This does sound like a pretty posh gig. You could probably get a shitload of climbing in. ----------------- You could never pay me enough money to be an all the time guide though! It sucks! Quote
genepires Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 you don't get more climbing in than any other person with a regular job. you still work 5 days a week during the summer and that 5 days may include one or two days of the weekend. So if you can find the midweek partners, then it is good to get out then. You do get shitloads of looking at guidebooks, on company time, behind the register. This job was made for the college kid (especially a wwu kid) who needs a summer job. Quote
layton Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I thinks it's a prefect job for someone 21-25 years old (or someone who can float on min. wage) who is new to the Ham and doesn't have any climbing partners. Quote

layton Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 yup - wish I was 22 again. actually no, I kinda wish I was almost done. I wonder if 80 year olds get that "senior year of high school fuck it" feeling? I can't wait for that shit. This middle part fucking blows dick Quote
