Couloir Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 That road wouldn't be too bad to MTB in on, unless the snow is really deep. It would definitely be a fun descent. Quote
PaulO Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Heck the mud with the Sentra was a fun descent. Hey, did there used to be a shorter way up there than the 12 miles of dirt? My GPS always wants to turn up the gated 'do not enter, wrong way' road (I guess it is) at the ski area? It shows it several miles shorter that way before I pass it by. I had never been up the road before this summer. Quote
letsroll Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 was one of the first up there today. Got to about 3 miles from cloud cap. Stopped there due to worries of getting stuck (high centered). Some other crazy fools went futher up the road and beat in a good track so I think you should be able to make it to the Y for cloud cap and Tilly Jane. Next round or gate closing will finish off the road soon. Really nice day out there today. North Face is filling in and cooper looks to be ready. Quote
sweatinoutliquor Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 NF route not in condition as of 10/27 (nothing more than verglas over the rock bands in the gullies). The short gullies leading up to the spur (left of the N. face routes) are in FAT condition. Quote

sweatinoutliquor Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 not too bad... Although I heard that they were going to close it this week maybe? Still a little hard snow between the ruts up higher that could be rough on a vehicle without clearance. Probably make it though. No problem for my buddies tayota pickup. Quote
sparverius Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 Here is a shot of the gullies leading up to the spur from Saturday: The furthest gully on climbers left: Quote
sparverius Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 I'm not really sure. We're novices with the ice. The first step was about 10 feet of vertical followed by mellower climbing (~70 deg.) We chose it because it seemed like the easiest of the gullies. Quote
KingsMM Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 sweet! I wish i could get out there some how. anyone from bend wanna make a trip out there? Quote
warrior1515 Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 I'd be game. Dave sweet! I wish i could get out there some how. anyone from bend wanna make a trip out there? Quote
billbob Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Hood Rangers reports today the CC road still open and will prolly remain open thru this weekend. Road conditions reported as "frosty", good news because they want to avoid ruts that occur when the road is wet. Quote
pdk Posted November 6, 2007 Author Posted November 6, 2007 As of this past weekend, none of the north face routes are in, including the eliot headwall. We need more precip up there first. I didn't take a camera with, so I have no photos, but there are a few significant sections of rock on each gully and very little of anything on the headwall. Quote
