Leavenworth Camping

I know there are a bunch of NF campsites up the Icicle Creek Rd., though have only been there in the spring.

 

What are the chances of finding a site if not coming in until Saturday night? Anyone know other options?

Chances are slim, but you might get lucky at 8 mile or upper Johnny Creek. If those fall through there is free camping just across the bridge from bridge creek campground (left turn 100 yards up hill).

there are some nice spots near the river...all dry camps but fires are cool

if you continue up past Bridge Creek campground on the main road about 10 minutes, there is a large pullout on the left big enough to hold 6 or more tractor trailer rigs. It has a sign that says, 'RV overflow camping only'. There is always room there, though it's gravel and hard to pound in tent stakes. It's usually quiet as fires aren't allowed and the beer busts usually happen in the campgrounds. I wouldn't leave a tent up there, but it's great for crashing after a long drive.

Plenty of free sites way up the valley, but they are not close to the climbing areas.

you could crash at the Colchuck lake TH. There's even some nice spots a 100 feet or so up on the blocked off forest road at the NE side of the parking lot. No fires, of course.

lots of places up a godforsaken fire-road that turns off east around the peshastin park area too - the road just winds up a mtn and seems mostly just popular w/ folks who like to shoot shit - pat n' i partied like rock stars up there one saturday night and didn't see a soul the whole night...
