Cobra_Commander Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 For those routes, a normal axe and just about any ice tool would work just fine for you. Two short tools would be annoying on the significant low-angle terrain encountered on those routes. Quote

The more I do, the more I want to do and end up doing, so waterfall ice is not out of the question in the future either. Quote
kevino Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 (edited) What shops in the seattle or spokane area have a good selection of ice tools to check out in person? Edited August 27, 2007 by kevino Quote
Adam13 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Maybe Mtn Gear in spokane not the best selection compared to online but more than REI though. Quote
John Frieh Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Portland Ice Festival End of September. All tools from BD, Grivel, and Petzl will be on hand for people to demo in person. Quote
cj001f Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 FEathered Friends, Pro Mountain Sports or Second Ascent (not the best selection of new, but some good deals on used tools) Quote

I've recently concluded that my Omega Pacific is useless unless you can get a couple of teeth in. Quote
fenderfour Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like the Grivel Air Tech Evo. The BD Raven Pro and the Venom are good too. With a little file work, any of the Grivel axes will do. The regular raven does not perform well because it has a cast head making the pick thicker than that of forged heads. Quote
