catbirdseat Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 We were climbing at Castle Rock last weekend and met another party of climbers who told us they had been up at Midnight Rock, but had been forced to withdraw because of nesting falcons. "Were you attacked by the falcons?" "No, but we would have been had we not left. They looked very agitated." "Did you not see any signs warning of a falcon closure?" "No we didn't see any signs. We went up from the top of Castle Rock". "Hmmm, I suppose it is possible that someone removed the signs". Later, I saw that all the signs were still in place in three different locations. Quote
JosephH Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Right now Peregrines in the NW have new chicks in the nests and are sensitive to any disturbance. Please respect the closures... Quote
tvashtarkatena Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 There's a closure sign in the parking lot, but you have to be able to read. Quote
matt_warfield Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 Darn, they were probably up there to do Supercrack and report to us about other recent ascents. Quote
JensHolsten Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Even though Ben, I and others would love a report on Supercrack, I thought it would have to wait until the closure lifted. Climbing on Midnight during the closure is offensive indeed. Quote
sill Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 Unbelievable. Sounds like the closure is well posted as it is every year. Fucking morons. Quote
maxhasson Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 What a bunch of fowl loving dirty hippies. Supercrack in the morning, falcon egg omelets for lunch. Mmmmm. Quote
