catbirdseat Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 This article is thought provoking. Do you think we should nuke 'em now? Would the fall out land on Isreal? Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I hope I'm not the only one who see's the obvious irony in the big picture of Reagon in the advertisement on the left. Quote
catbirdseat Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 (edited) How much time would Ahmadinejad have if a submarine launched an ICBM with a conventional warhead from the Persian Gulf? And speaking of proxies, why not use Isreal as a proxy same way the Saudis use Al Queda? How could the world hate Isreal any more than it already does? Edited May 31, 2007 by catbirdseat Quote

sirwoofalot Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 Back in the 1960’s or it might have been the 50’s, some renowned sociologist, I can’t remember who, said the next great conflict is going to be between European and Middle Eastern ideologies. In 1983 I was taking the class, “International Studies 201” at the UW. The first week was from 1877 to 1942. Then most of the class was about the international regimes that were established during Brinton Woods’s agreements and the last two or three days of the class the professor prophesied about the near future. He made two rather shocking predictions; the fall of the Soviet Union, and “It is not a question of if there is going to a be a nuclear terrorist attack, it is only a matter of time”. I have a rather simplistic resolution for the Iranian problem. Tell our European allies to not worry. We will guarantee that Iran will NEVER get long range delivery capabilities. In so doing we have put the Iranian nuclear capabilities directly onto their collective laps. As for Iran getting long rage nuclear delivery system, I don’t think that is very likely. First of all they need to import it from N. Korea. However, N. Korea is on the verge of collapse. Let it be, and once Kim Jung-Ill is dead then their whole system will die with him. Quote

mattp Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Since this thread is titled “you’re right, Mattp, I’ll take this opportunity to point out that I argued, three years ago, that the U.S. plan for Iraq was long term military presence. At the time, the “right leaning” posters on this site called me “paranoid” just as they did when I argued, a year or two before that, that the President lied to take us into Iraq, or when I stated in 2003, that our invasion of Iraq would lead to increased support for Al Queda Today our Secretary of Defense confirmed my argument. We are planning a long term military presence in Iraq. Quote
