i_like_sun
Maybe Chimps do have it figured out more than we stupid humans..... C'mon, all they worry about is swinging in branches, eating, sleeping, loving each other and sex. We sit in our brains going "Oh My God.......gay marriage.......lets bomb some shit...." underworld
more evolution doesn't mean more advanced... maybe we just took a shortcut and stopped cuz we figured it all out. i'd guess living in the wild forces some more evolution than living in a 3000ft^2 house w/ a wide screen and a latte

ashw_justin
Beware the claims of 'systems biology' like the ones being made here--numbers alone mean nothing, and these numbers are quite close to begin with. Especially in a field like this one, mindless wonder for scientific claims far outpaces statistical rigor. The news is reporting this before the primary research has even been printed. Stonehead
Yeah, don't know if the title claim is warranted. Consider, for example, the genetic mutation for lactose digestion (really, shouldn't cow milk be only for calves?). Lactose tolerance in East Africa points to a surprisingly recent moment in human evolution UMd-Led Team Discovers Gene Mutation for Milk Tolerance in Africans Edited April 19, 2007 by Stonehead

Stonehead
Chimpanzees have evolved more than humans have since the species diverged Snip from article: Scientists generally believed that traits like higher cognitive skills were due to bursts of adaptive evolution, in which key genes accumulated beneficial mutations that contributed to the evolution of the human species. I think some people get confused here when they consider 'adaptive evolution' to be Lamarkian evolution, e.g., the elementary school idea of how the giraffe got it's long neck. That latter idea is not how natural selection and consequently evolution works. Now...SEXUAL SELECTION, that works.
