Lake Louise (or other scenic backdrop) rock

Looking for some moderate cragging in a scenic area up there. Easy/short approach and moderate routes. Someplace to spend a day relaxing and climbing. Any recommendations?

There's some good cragging at Back of the Lake at Lake Louise. The cragg is pretty obvious right off the flat hiking trail. There's some nice quartzite there.

there is a guidebook to the bow valley, (not really lake louise but nearby) There are lots of routes in the bow valley. Bow valley rock is the title and I think you can get it in washginton.

I believe alot most but not all at lake l, is 9-10a and up..steep..

Back of the Lake sounds good. Couldn't find Bow Valley Granite locally so I'll order it on-line. Thanks for the suggestions.

You're forgetting your local resources.

 

Looking through my own library, I've got 3 guides you of all people are more than welcome to borrow:

 

1. The Climber's Guide to Lake Louise, by Krause & Vincent. No date, but I bought in '97, has same list of climbs Gene Pires ref'd above. Tiny guide, only 30+ pp.

2. Bow Valley Rock, Perry & JoJo, 2000. Real comprehensive, beautiful work, 400+ pp.

3. Banff Rock Climbs, Toft, 2nd ed. Again no date, I bought in 1988. About 100 pp.

Couldn't find Bow Valley Granite locally

 

Maybe you couldn't find it 'cause there isn't granite in the Bow Valley. Lots of good cragging around Canmore as well.

Did I say "Granite"? Oh...guess I did I'm pretty single minded lately. Everything is granite.
