Blake Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I just saw that half of North Carolina was being overrun by infra-red helicopters, army searchers, and rednecks on SUVs. All because a boyscout got homesick and wandered off into the woods. I'm not saying that it was a waste of time and resources to look for him, I just think it is ridiculous that all kinds of groups, clubs, and activities lead to large expensive rescue operations. Why are climbers suddenly everyone's scapegoat and legislative target? http://www.news10.net/display_story.aspx?storyid=25677 Quote

Billygoat Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Right on Blake! Isn't the stat from ANAM something like only 2% of SAR costs are directly attributable to climbers. I think then that anyone leaving a paved hwy should be forced to carry MLUs. Fuck It. The Goat has Spoken skull Quote
kevbone Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Why are climbers suddenly everyone's scapegoat and legislative target? We have been scapegoats for years. We are one of the smallest user groups.....makes for easy targets. Quote
joblo7 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 mediatised issues never have simple solutions. there is no problem here! rescue is self evident . Quote
Weekend_Climberz Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Anyone wonder how much it cost to find those lost dirt bikers? Lost Rednecks Quote
G-spotter Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I think some of your legislators would rather have boy scouts wearing leather chaps and ball-gags than MLUs. Quote
