salbrecher Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 "It will likely never be a classic but it was fun and I will be back." Maybe even without the airsupport... Quote
Lambone Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Cool caveman...pictures? ...must have eye candy... Quote

Dru Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Ray you could get to Rusty on foot in 2 days (maybe not with Fred along) but why bother if you have a job and have the cash to spend? If you fly in you can take more beers Rusty is Schweeeeet! Rusty is thhe one on the left and the east summit is on the left of that. Did you call your route the Beckey/Borbon? Quote

Dru Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 You should call the route NORTH FACE OF THE EIGER for confusement purposes Quote
mattp Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Congratulations, Ray and Fred. With or without air support, the ascent of a new route has an element of adventure quite different from repeating a route that somebody else has done and, while you note that the route may not be a "classic" in the sense that it may not end up touted as a "select climb" and draw the resultant hoards, it was certainly a classic outing that I am sure you will treasure more than repeating, say, Liberty Ridge for the ten thousandth ascent. And I am sure you were fully stoked as you stood on top. The Coast Range is awesome. Quote
Lambone Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 So is that prominant rib the North East Ridge? If so, looks sweet! Quote

Bronco Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Nice job Ray and Becky. Great picture, does anyone know the best way to clean drool out of your keyboard? How many fa's do you think Becky has? 100? 500? Just curious. Quote

salbrecher Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Congrats on the summit with Fred but would you still have been airlifted in without him? At least with the pack hoarses you still have to hike in...unless you ride on top. Must be nice to have enough money to fly in Quote

jordop Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Ray, don't you think it's quite possible that Beckey's already climbed that line twenty years ago and forgoten about it! You guys get to the top and he says, "oh yeah . . . I remember this!" Quote
fishstick Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Ray, Nicely done. I've climbed/descended the South side gullies in May snow conditions. I suspect they might have provided you with a bit of entertaining looseness. Did you camp at the head of the valley next to the moraine? If so, pretty good views of the ice routes on the north face eh? GB Quote
Dru Posted August 21, 2002 Posted August 21, 2002 Heres another shot. Rusty is at right. You climbed the ridge dividing rocky east face and snowy north face then up to the east peak? Quote

Cpt.Caveman Posted August 21, 2002 Author Posted August 21, 2002 Whatever... I guess I'll keep all the rest of my photos to myself. Quote
