rat Posted January 23, 2002 Posted January 23, 2002 do any of you use any of the various cd-rom map products available for parts of b.c. and alberta? likes, dislikes, worth the $? Quote
Dru Posted January 23, 2002 Posted January 23, 2002 just buy the TRIM maps you want. except that version2.0 with better contours is coming out. honestly there are only a few times when the accuracy is better than 1:50 000. I dont have to buy the CD I got all the maps free at work! Quote
Cpt.Caveman Posted January 23, 2002 Posted January 23, 2002 I heard one can buy trim for cheap in Thailand Quote
b-rock Posted January 23, 2002 Posted January 23, 2002 Cavey - Yup, was there last fall. Saw at least the National Geo series there. 200 baht (about $5), along with every other peice of software, right there on Ko Sahn Rd. Of course, that's not all one can buy there... Quote
b-rock Posted January 23, 2002 Posted January 23, 2002 rat - Have a Garmin GPS and associated map software (for the US, they publish Canada as well). Both stink. Quote

rat Posted January 24, 2002 Author Posted January 24, 2002 thanks for the info. i use the delorme map cd's for work and they come in handy for planning backcountry trips when i don't have the usgs quad map for a particular area. sitting at the computer is definitely not as fun as drinking beer over a large paper map. sounds like the canadian software isn't worth the cash. mattp Posted January 24, 2002 Posted January 24, 2002 Hey Rat - For some reason, I can't send you a Private Message, or I would. But if you have access to the DeLorme CD, I wonder if you could make something for me. email to mattp@seanet.com - Matt Quote
