jordop Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 Climb: Baker Backcountry- Date of Climb: 11/18/2006 Trip Report: Perhaps the best first day of the season in years? Snow conditions were excellent up high off the Table ridge, heavier down low and mixed with chunky avi debris. Tried to find a cool gully and ended up above a waterfall, but there really wasn't that much b/s or rocks poking through We were expecting hoards of gapers, but the jibbing quotient was surprisingly low. Ran into Kellie and Rolf, though Pan Dome a ways off, but there was some stuff forming on the south side of Herman. Gear Notes: Full freshiez rack Quote
Ponzini Posted November 19, 2006 Posted November 19, 2006 trailbreaking looks nice 'n light too...... Quote
Norman Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Nice you could get some good weather in the middle of storms in the B'ham area. Where was the waterfall, was it frozen yet? Quote
eternalX Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Was boarding on the resort on Saturday and didn't even notice anybody on table. nice! Quote
fheimerd Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Was up there on table mountain thinking to myself...I'm glad I'm not over there skiing those tracked out runs all day. The freshiez were in full effect. One run I had snow up to the knees After some morning clouds the afternoon cleared with amazing views of shuksan, baker, and the north cascades in all their glory. eternalX Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 yea, had heard that people were sinking right down to the rocks a couple days prior so it didn't sound too good. Glad that wasn't the case. Quote
PaulB Posted November 20, 2006 Posted November 20, 2006 Where was the waterfall, was it frozen yet? It was more of a short runnel than a full waterfall. Not anything that you'd bother to climb, but neither was it something that we wanted to ski. Quote
