ivan Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 seems strange but i believe massacres such as this recent one show our country at it's best - afterall all human societies are made up in large part by murderous cock-suckers and are therefore wont to do nasty shit such as this on a regular basis - but most societies then do a thorough and excellent job of covering it up (the turks to this day to a man deny the armenian genocide they perpetrated) - our society - riddled w/ division as it is - still largely supports a free media and expects gross injustices such as this be exposed. there were afterall investigations and retributions after both my lai and sand creek. and at my lai the best of america such as the helicopter pilot who's name escapes me now risked all to bring an end to the killing by placing themselves between the murderers and the civilians and threatened to fire on their fellow soldiers (this guy was then court-martialed for his bravery). the bottom line is that this sort of shit will never cease occuring - it is therefore the responsibilty of a decent liberal society to confront and excoriate it when it does in the hope that these flowerings of hatred can be minimized Quote
