ncascademtns Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 My boys are 8 and I think they are ready to get out of the full body harness anyways. The Trango harness is identical. Quote
olyclimber Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I would go with this one: Alpine Bod Harness Childrens (for ages 8-12)...only $30. http://www.mgear.com/pages/product/produ...el2_id/0/N/1204 Quote
RuMR Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 BUMP.... anybody got anything planned this month??? Quote
olyclimber Posted May 8, 2006 Posted May 8, 2006 Working on a plan to bring loads of jumbo fist-sized cams, big bros, #11 hexes and maybe a couple of RP's down to Smith so my little guy can work on Monkey Face. Last weekend of May, three day weekend. Quote
RuMR Posted May 8, 2006 Author Posted May 8, 2006 i just tell my kid to quit whining and run it out or pack your own rack... sheesh, kids these days... Quote
RuMR Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 my son is lookin' for a regular climbing partner his age to climb with... marymor, plastic, excrap 38 and index...possible trips to squish and smith... of course there will be much much adult supervision... Quote
olyclimber Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 how old is your boy? that would help to match him up with another squirt. Quote
nat Posted May 10, 2006 Posted May 10, 2006 My daughter just turned two and no shit she climbed 12 feet up from the ground on my wall, 30degs overhanging. Stuck her little toes in the bolt holes and her whole hand in a mono. I've since put up another 200 holds. Any kids in Portland wanna play American Gladiator? We spend 90% of the time wrestling on the mattresses anyway. Quote
RuMR Posted May 10, 2006 Author Posted May 10, 2006 how old is your boy? that would help to match him up with another squirt. he'll be seven in august... Quote
Macson Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 I'll be in Mazama over memorial weekend. Climbing at fun rock on Sunday, maybe Saturday too with my 9 year old son if anyone's in the area. Quote
RuMR Posted May 11, 2006 Author Posted May 11, 2006 let's hook up then, my middly boy just turned 4...sounds like Ulee is in between the two of mine...i'm heading to squish not this weekend, but the next...whatcha got goin on??? Quote
olyclimber Posted May 11, 2006 Posted May 11, 2006 i've got something going on your squish weekend, but was thinking of going down to Smith the weekend after that. but perhaps we could head north to canuckland instead. otherwise, we've got the whole summer. check your PMs. Quote
mtngrrrl Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Great thread! My sprout turns 14 months next week. When did you all get your kids started?? I think it's time for a gym field trip... he hasn't been there since he was a few months old. Quote
olyclimber Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 ulee started training in the womb. his first descent, however, was making it out. since then I've had him climbing non-stop. we watched touching the void as one of his training videos. i first took him to the climbing gym (not our own wall) when he turned two. olyclimber Posted May 12, 2006 Posted May 12, 2006 Whats cool about seeing kids climb is they seem to quite naturally do all the climbing techniques that an adult starting out has to be taught and practice, just like swimming or skiing...must be much easier to learn when you are a tike. Quote
