corvallisclimb
I was driving west on 126 today and about 2 miles east of Blue River I noticed an impressive looking crag on a hilltop south of 126. Any one know what im talking about? I've never noticed this before but it looked big and of quality. Eugenian
wolf rock? It's been a few years since I worked for the FS in McKenzie...but that's my guess...however, I'd have to check my district map...the geographic memory has become blurred by too much moving around. sk
uuhh flagstone? that is just outside of Blue River although i don't think it is visible from 126.
Eugenian
ahh yes...to the south... Â I'm thinking then Deathball rock (hard to forget that name) or King's Castle/Rock. It might even be Harvey Mtn. but I doubt it. I even checked the district map this time and re-thought through the whole SOUTH concept. corvallisclimb
looking at a shitty map its gotta be Deathball Rock, Castle Rock or possibly "Thors Hammer". It looked big steep and intimidating. Does any one know about climbing on any of these formations?
corvallisclimb
There is a breif description of a Castle Rock in the Dodge guide, but I am not sure if its the one on 126. I am thinking that it is the one near the Metolius.
jrussell
My friends from Eugene always called it Thor's Hammer.

corvallisclimb
Hmmm thors hammer seems to far west though. But what I want to know is if there are any routes there and about access...
John Frieh
You need the magical FS gate key or be prepared to bicycle many many miles of logging road. Â A friend of mine went up there and looked at one side and found mass quantities of moss. As far as routes chances are the obvious has been done but never recorded. I would talk to the local usual suspects (Anglin, the Boys from Bend, etc etc).
shapp
moss and choss
badvoodoo
I saw that same formation for the first time this winter. First time I did a double-take just from sheer surprise that I'd never noticed it before. I was also wondering what it was, since it looked quite impressive and full of potential.
